Default Rush Limbaugh question

In the shoutbox, I was asked why Rush Limbaugh has a large liberal listening audience...

This was too easy...

I remember something from Howard Stern's "Private Parts" that flicked a switch with this question...

The answer is right in the transcript...

Th same mindset and everything...

Quote:
Researcher: The average radio listener listens for eighteen minutes. The average Howard Stern fan listens for - are you ready for this? - an hour and twenty minutes.

Pig Vomit: How can that be?

Researcher: Answer most commonly given? "I want to see what he'll say next."

Pig Vomit: Okay, fine. But what about the people who hate Stern?

Researcher: Good point. The average Stern hater listens for two and a half hours a day.

Pig Vomit: But... if they hate him, why do they listen?

Researcher: Most common answer? "I want to see what he'll say next."

If Rush is a propagandist (as some think), it's a good idea to keep up with what he's putting out there. I don't know any truly liberal people who ever listen to him. That's not saying some don't. I've just never met any.
I listen to him occasionally for no more than a few minutes at a time. I also try to keep up with what white supremest organizations are saying and receive a pro choice newsletter. That way I can know the enemy of the values I hold dear and perhaps take action if possible.

I don't listen to him - though I will admit to catching his circus act a few times when he was on televison.

I'm glad that other liberals listen to him. He has such a huge listening audience, that it's good to know what lie/exaggeration/deception he's broadcasting to rednecks in Omaha (who BELIEVE him) so that it can be counteracted.

Both are exactly right...I was surprised I was asked this...

"Keep your friends close and your enemies closer."...

I think that the question was rhetorical and meant to signify that we watch our opposition as we would a train wreck. With horror and morbid fascination.

Rush Limbaugh is similar to the Drudge report in the fact that he has such a large audience (more than 20 million people) that if you are not keeping up with what is being discussed on their formats then you are not informed on what is "happening" in America. He is also like Ann Coulter in the fact that liberals because they cannot refute his facts they must try to denigrate him. I challenge you liberals to PROVE HIM WRONG on his facts the man does his homework and usually speaks quite carefully to say exactly what he means. Whereas every time the media does one of its attack jobs on him they use misquotes and out of context phrases or mischaracterizations to attempt to slander him.
