Yeah, I heard MSNBC and other MSM outlets try and push that.

the government cannot be trusted to decide what ideas or information “the people” should be allowed to hear.
I would agree. That's why the street preacher, Benjamin Franklin, CNN, and Facebook have the right to free expression.

But we're talking about access, not speech.

An idiot does not have to be loud to be obnoxious. He was told to relinquish the microphone, that should be enough for a thinking person.

But Acosta wasn't asking questions, he was trying to tell Trump that he was wrong and that Acosta's opinion was the correct one. He took the opportunity to badger and try to argue with Trump. A Presidential press conference is not the time or place for that.

And that is not the job of a reporter. As someone masquerading as reporter, Acosta should know all of this. He is free to ask a question WHEN CALLED UPON and then report Trumps response. However, he is not there to badger the President and try to argue his point of view.

At the point that he does this, he ceases to be seen as a reported and becomes a political pundit. A WH press briefing is for reports, not pundits.

Most sober posters would see the difference, but for you I will make an exception.

Removing Acosta's WH press pass does not prevent him from saying or writing anything he likes. He still has the freedom to spew his point of view anytime that CNN would like to air it.

However, the 1st Amendment does NOT grant him unlimited access to the WH or any other government official. While he had the privilege, it comes with the understanding that there are rules of decorum that are to be followed which he violated. For his misunderstanding of this rule, he has been denied access to the WH for the foreseeable future.

I keep looking for evidence of Acosta's freedom of speech being compromised and finding none. Acosta is free to express his opinion no matter how odious but just not as a member of the accredited WH press corps. The puffed up pseudo reporter for a failing news network has forgotten who is the duly elected President and as such can determine when to entertain questions from other reporters. It's hardly surprising when the Resistance media supports Acosta's boorish behavior as "freedom" but it is sad that they refuse to recognize when they act not as a news source but as something closer to Antifa thugs.

Conveniently flushed down the memory hole was Obama's practice of expelling reporters when their publications displeased him. Administration officials were banned from giving interviews to Fox reporters not because of rude behavior but because the network offended Obama. There was no screeching about the death of democracy but then again the lapdog media loved Obama.

There is no disputing Acosta pushed the female WH intern's arm away when she was trying to do her job. We both know there would be howling 24/7 for criminal prosecution and banning the network if it had been a Fox news reporter.

Spare us the false indignation over a boorish reporter getting kicked out of WH press corps. CNN has a whole stable filled with Resistance activists they put in his place.

Would be funny to see Trump just end every press conference when peeps like Acosta started acting like a child and puttin' his hands on women. That'll teach 'em to behave and act like adults.

I saw one pundit say somethin' interesting yesterday. He said it wouldn't be a bad idea to just not televise press conferences on TV. That would cut back on the dramatics by the press corps. Because let's be real; peeps like Acosta only behave like he does for the publicity and to get his name in the news and media. He's not a serious journalist. Instead of doin' his job, he wants to make everything 'bout himself. ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME!!!!!

Here's a real journalist.

LISTEN: CBS White House correspondent Major Garrett pointedly disses Jim Acosta-like antics

Quote:
CBS White House correspondent Major Garrett is a famously tough questioner in the White House press pool. And not just to Donald Trump but to prior administrations as well. He’s a serious journalist who is taken seriously by his colleagues. And he isn’t enamored of the antics by CNN’s Jim Acosta, who recently lost and regained his credentials following a performance and kerfuffle that resulted in a lawsuit.
Quote:
However, O’Connor asked, “taking Jim Acosta out of it, would you agree, Major Garrett, that there is a standard of conduct, there is an expected behavior from a White House correspondent that I think each, all of you would agree upon, right?”

“There is, no question about it,” said Garrett. “It’s the most majestic political place in America. The White House.”
Quote:
“And I will say on my behalf, the previous press conference we had with President Trump in the Rose Garden. The president looked at me, I thought he called on me, I stood up, the White House aide handed me the microphone, I began to speak to the President of the United States, President Trump looked at me and said ‘no, behind you, Kaitlan.’ Kaitlan with CNN, Kaitlan Collins.”

“So I said ‘oh’, and what did I do? I handed back the microphone,” he said. “Now some of my colleagues might say ‘what’d you do that for? You had the microphone, you have a voice, you can speak.’–The President of the United States said ‘not you’. To my way of thinking, that’s enough. The President said I didn’t call on you I called on somebody else. Alright then. And I didn’t get a question that press conference.”

“Some might say, ‘you laid down, and you were too deferential’, I don’t feel that way,” he continued. “I stood up the President said I don’t mean you, I mean another one of your colleagues, so I deferred, hoping he might call on me again. He didn’t. That’s how I orient myself to the institution.”

“The person who occupies that institution is chosen by the country, and I respect the institution and the country’s choice.”
Quote:
Major Garret then made what is absolutely the most salient and important point about Jim Acosta’s theatrics, and it’s one that both the right and left continue to miss in the back and forth over Acosta.

Garrett said “I’m there, to on behalf of everyone, ask questions and, most importantly Larry, get answers. That’s the whole most important part of this transaction–if you’re not getting answers then I think there’s part of the job that’s not reaching its fullest capability on, in striving to accomplish its main goal, which is to get answers.”

That is exactly right. It’s not just the people who have to watch Acosta’s theatrics who are losing, it’s his own network, his profession, adn the people who deserve a press corps that is actually trying to get somewhere with the time they have in front of those who run the country. The press are representative of the people’s right to know. Instead of representing that need, Acosta represents himself first, and talking points from the left second, and if ever he asked a question that wasn’t a rhetorical attempt to merely bash Trump and advance a particular political philosophy of his own — well I haven’t seen it.

“I do my level best to not make myself part of story,” said Major Garrett. “And I think the best journalists operate that way.”
