This week, I decided to do something different – my column is in video form. It's a newscast from a future we must make sure we never see. In it, you'll get a glimpse into our nation should Barack Obama be elected president – complete with the kinds of people he'll appoint and policies he'll enact based on Sen. Obama's real promises, positions, record and advisers. It would be comical if it weren't so scary. It is an eye-opening look at what the future could hold if we don't do everything we can to prevent it. A newscast from a future we must never see 1) I think this pretty much epitomizes why I think WND is a pile of garbage... 2) I'm curious as to how many people will think of this as "vetting"... ![]()

I'm curious if you understand what "satire" means... Just out of curiousity, when all this "Obama's a Muslim" crap and "Obama pals around with terrorists" crap comes out, do you think that's all "satire" too? New Yorker Obama cover? THAT is satire. The WND article? Unless you're claiming they are mocking the people who criticize Obama, then you don't understand what "satire" is... Try looking up the word "hyperbole" instead...

satire: 1 : a literary work holding up human vices and follies to ridicule or scorn 2 : trenchant wit, irony, or sarcasm used to expose and discredit vice or folly When a person writes something mocking a view-point THEY SHARE, that isn't "satire". If Obama were to make further comments about "clinging to guns and religion", unless he were to actually make fun of HIMSELF SAYING IT, that wouldn't be "satire". When a person who OPPOSES Obama puts up an anti-Obama hit-piece, that isn't "satire". LOOK at the web-site itself. LOOK at the links below the article. The ones that say "special RELATED offers:"
This isn't "satire". They are attacking Obama. And on a side-note, I can't help but think that maybe somebody should just argue Obama was "satiring" with his "cling to guns and religion" comment... ![]()

I think the article is hyperbolicly sarcastic. They are exaggerating the situation to an end, but not to an end which disagrees with the underlying mechanism... But to be a "satire" you have to be making fun of the underlying thinking mechanism. For example, a person who thinks McCain or the GOP are typically "racists" couldn't do a "satire" over pretending that a GOP meeting was a KKK rally. (And just to set the record straight, I would also find that grotesque and inaccurate.) Now, if a GOPer (or anybody else who disagreed with that mentality) were to do a skit or article on how a black person might automatically imagine white people with KKK hoods if the black person got cut off in traffic, THAT would be satire. And as for "humorous", I put it in the category of "Ann Coulter" humor. It's the "laughing AT the kid on the playground" humor... Definitely not "laughing with..."

You can't read minds. You haven't a clue. This is in no way indicative of typical conservatives. But of course, me saying that will in no way change your opinion on the matter... Quote:
![]() I have been trying to correct people in the claim that it is satirical... And now you claim that I am trying to make it LOOK like it's satirical??? You understand even less of what is going on than I thought! And moreover, it DOES represent the views of some conservatives. It was a conservative that WROTE it. The person who wrote it WAS NOT poking fun at conservatives. You are so desparate to defend... Defend EVEN THE EXTREMES... That you can't recognize the conservative hands (and intentions) before your face.
