Default Fact Check: Is Obama willing to meet with Iran's Ahmadinejad?

Hilarious...Somebody needs to factcheck the factcheckers...

Here's CNN telling everyone how Palin was wrong when she was right on target...

Fact Check: Is Obama willing to meet with Iran's Ahmadinejad?

Quote:
The Statement:
Gov. Sarah Palin said at the Oct. 2 vice presidential debate that Sen. Barack Obama "would be willing to meet with" Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad "without preconditions being met first."

Get the facts!

The Facts:
Palin stated an assertion made repeatedly by Republican running mate Sen. John McCain. Sen. Joe Biden said at the debate "it is simply not true" that Obama said he would "sit down" with Ahmadinejad.

Obama has talked about meeting with Iranian leaders if necessary, but not Ahmadinejad specifically...

Verdict: Misleading. While Obama has said he wouldn't rule out meeting with any foreign leader, he never specifically said he'd meet with the Iranian president.
Oh really CNN "factcheckers"?

Then how do you explain THIS?...

Quote:
Reporter: Senator you've said before you'd meet with president Ahmadinejad...

Obama (nodding): Uh Huh

Reporter: ... would you still meet with him today?

Obama: Nothing’s changed with respect to my belief that strong countries and strong presidents talk to their enemies and talk to their adversaries.
Anything to get him elected...

And in that quote, did he say that he would meet without conditions?

He answered with "Nothing’s changed with respect to my belief that strong countries and strong presidents talk to their enemies and talk to their adversaries."

So, tell me, where did he talk about preconditions? Because he doesn't talk about them automatically means he doesn't think there should be any? He was asked a general question and gave a general answer.

I suppose, however, that it takes a bit more thought to make that kind of a rank than someone saying that McCain is old and Palin is a soccer mom with a firearm.

I guess it would be scary for some to meet with a foreign leader. After all, if we had peace with some of our neighbors, the military industrial swords might have to be ground into plowshares.

I'd like to meet Ahmadinejad face to face.
Just 5 minutes, so I could rip his fooking world apart.

I remember seeing a speech where he said we got what we deserved in Beirut.

And if your gonna go around whoopin folks because of how they are treating our military there are some in the administration that have had it coming for a while. You don't have to go overseas to find em.

Wish there was a "no $hit!" button for that one

End of the day I don't care if he meets him with or without conditions. I think this sounds like High School Shenanigans. I'm not going to talk to him because he's not nice. Do you have any idea how many human beings have died because of this kind of fear of someone else's perception. I'm not giving this guy any hope of being worth the effort. But the view of the world would be at least we tried before we had to turn the place to glass. Some seem to think talking shows weakness. History proves that we eventually do anyway. Usually after thousands have died. So if you think that talking makes us look weak. I say it shows intelligence. And a concern for peoples lives. You know Iranians like Americans. Their president is a punk. I'll give you that. Should we kill thousands of brave Iranians just because of prodigal. I think not. It's time to act like grown ups.
Centuries of war shows talking first is the right call.

I like how they try to discredit Mccain for saying the meeting would be with Ahmadinejad because the Ayatollahs "run the country" when the original question that is the reference is to meet with the "leaders" of despot countries.

Naivety, Naivety Do you idiots really think that NO discussions have been happening? It is simply that it does NO GOOD to negotiate with someone that won't uphold their side of the bargain. Ever try to work a deal with a liar? You will at some point be VERY cheated.
Just like now that its four years later and GW says we can start withdrawing some forces that it means you were right ALL ALONG to say we must withdraw NOW.

We have not negotiated with Iran really sense they threw out the dictator we had running the place. Why hate Iranians? What is wrong with an Iranian? They have some crazy leadership. But they are not all crazy. And they are not like Al queada. Wehave used Suddam to screw with them because we were mad at them. This is childish. If you have a dispute with someone what do you do. Sit in our house and bitch about them. Or do you face them and get it solved. I don't let stuff festor. I face it down. You don't know UIranians otherwise you wouldn't have such a hate for them. These are people that are very giving and hospitable. ASnd read about them when they had to fight Iraq. These are some brave sons a bitches. Don't swallow all the hype. They were not fighting for allah. They were fighting just like our troops do. For their fellow soldier. These are guys who would throw themselves on to mines to clear for their compadres. You have to respect that. And the fact that they are predisposed to like the U.S. means to me that there is a better chance of having good relations with Iran then Iraq.

But maybe its just easier to throw your little chest all out there and send someone else's kid to die. I am not afraid to go to war. And I am not afraid to talk. I'm not as scared of Iran as some of the hyper right is.
