Need I cut you to a variety of clips of the "Osama" thing put out to a Republican crowd, WITH THEIR REACTION.

Again, undercutting your point with the facts.

See, the problem HERE is that you are assuming "Must be..."
You have created your own strawman, INDEPENDENT of the facts.

If you want to go through the REPUBLICAN examples and discuss which ones were honest mistakes and which ones were DELIBERATE ATTEMPTS, then we should DO THAT.

But you are trying to pretend that there isn't a concentrated attempt by some Republicans to associate "Osama" and "Obama" WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING at the examples.

THAT is the part that kills me.
You are trying to refute the allegation while REFUSING TO EVEN LOOK at the people involved in the first place.
Bravo on the attempt.
Negative points on the lack of logic on the point.

It's like trying to refute whether or not Jack purposely bumped into John with malice, by avoiding looking at Jack. Instead, you point to other people who bumped into John without malice, and try to intimate that believing Jack did so on purpose is irrational.

There is an example of the RNC response to this nonsense.

I suppose THEY are being idiots for seeing the same thing I am talking about????

Would THEIR word satisfy you???
Your missing the point...again...

You (and the author of the article) are preaching "B" and using "A" as an example...

IS THERE a propaganda campaign against Obama?...Sure...Just like there is against any other candidate or politician...Big whoopty-whoop...

But why is that mentioned in an article where someone screwed up "Obama" and "Osama"?...They are two totally separate issues (unless you think the names were screwed up intentionally, and although I find Media Matters stupid, you I don't.)...

I've shown where the Left has screwed his name up also, and I'm sorry, but I'm not going to sit here and believe the "If the Left screws it up, it's OK, but if the Right does, then it's not" attitude...

That shield is right up there with the old "If you're black, you can say it, but if you're white, you're a racist bastard." line...

I can tolerate slips. I cannot tolerate an advocacy of murder which is what the FOX commentator did. It is without question some of the most vile commentary. The woman should be summarily dismissed from news, not because of the mistake but because of the horrendous joke she made after the mistake where she wanted to get em both.

I'm not saying that this is FOX's fault though I do think they have pretty crappy commentators. I am saying that once the slip is caught it should be apologized for instead of made into a twisted joke that justifies murder.

They just ask them to be smart, truthful, honest, and show a modicum of good sense." Ann Richards, Former Texas Governor

I can pretty much agree with that, (although "crappy commentators" is strictly an individual's opinion.)...

If this came from an Ann Courture-type, it would be expected, but I don't know Liz Trotta nor her biases...I looked up her bio...she's the first woman reporter in Vietnam, and worked for CBS, NBC, and the Washington Times in a 30+ year career...

So there's nothing that suggests she's anm Ann/Rush type of person....

(Of course, she's on Fox, so that's an automatic for some)...

Jimmy Carter was a respected politician until he was out of office. Now he's taking up every lefty cause out there. Just because you have a solid record doesn't mean you will continue that record. I'm not saying she is automatically a bad person because she is on FOX. I just find the FOX commentators to be silly and over the top. The same with CNN. I can tolerate MSNBC for the most part. I don't want it to seem that I am making a blanket statement about all FOX commentators, but they are the station that has had Coulter and Rove, and everyone that seems to turn a moderate to liberals stomach. Hell, even ol' Alan Colmbs can't manage a declarative sentence giving stronger credence to the conservative argument.

But this isn't about FOX, this is about what Cnredd and I shockingly agreed upon. The woman was out of line for her joke and that is what sets this apart from the other slips.

As I said, it's up to an individual's opinion......

How you can tolerate MSNBC I have no idea...Maybe this forum should drug test...

Toward Obama maybe...

But Bush has been dealing with for some time now...here's an example where a politician (not some pundit) requested the same for the President of the United States during a college commencement speech...

Official Apologizes For Saying Bush Should Be Shot Between Eyes

Quote:
State Comptroller Alan Hevesi publicly apologized Thursday for a "beyond dumb" remark about a fellow Democrat putting "a bullet between the president's eyes."

Hevesi called a mea culpa press conference hours after putting his foot in his mouth at the Queens College commencement....

...According to a videotape of the speech, Hevesi said:

"The man who, how do I phrase this diplomatically, who will put a bullet between the president's eyes if he could get away with it. The toughest senator, the best representative. A great, great member of the Congress of the United States."

And those individuals should be fired and enjoy the rest of their lives in seclusion.

Agreed, but the discussion was ALSO about this line from the article...

Quote:
Since Sen. Obama first declared his intention to seek the Democratic nomination for president, right-wing pundits on FOX News and a variety of other broadcast outlets have regularly called the Sen. Obama by the name "Osama" in a systematic propaganda campaign to convince the American public that a sitting member of their government has secret ties to terrorists.
I don't believe that AT ALL...AND I've shown multiple instances of reps from the Left doing the very same thing, but getting let off of the hook as being "innocent accidents"...

I don't know that I support the assumption that the article makes. I will contend that it is questionable considering those commentators in the employ of FOX, but it isn't a confirmation of something subversive. The commentators on the right have motive. Motive alone does not a criminal make, but people on both sides rush to judgment.

But the point made was "systematic propaganda"...

That's different from an individual's remarks...

What the author was saying was NOT that is commentator did anything on her own...The author is saying that this (and things like it) are staged by groups, as if some editor or other news staff was "in on it" beforehand and knew it was coming...

And that's bullsh*t...

Do you HONESTLY think someone or some group is saying "Here's an idea!...Go out and screw up Obama's name, but do it so it looks like you didn't mean it!"...

We assume it's bullshit. I mean it is fesable, but still likely to be bullshit.
