Default New York Times Omits for Obama

Don't think their kneepads don't say "Obama '08" on them?...

Check this out...Bigass crowd I'd say...

Obama Draws Huge Crowd in Oregon as Clinton Courts Kentucky

Quote:
Senator Barack Obama drew the largest crowd of his campaign so far on Sunday, addressing an estimated 75,000 people who had gathered here on the banks of the Willamette River.

Wow! Wow! Wow!” were his first words as he surveyed the multitude, which included people in kayaks and small pleasure craft on the river on an unseasonably hot day in Oregon.

It is “fair to say this is the most spectacular setting for the most spectacular crowd” of his campaign, he told the audience. His wife and daughters, who have been with him most of the weekend, joined him on the stage at the beginning of the event but left as he was about to speak.
Now remember...The headline says "Obama draws huge crowd" and the first sentence of the article reads "Senator Barack Obama drew the largest crowd of his campaign so far on Sunday"...

But was that REALLY the reason everyone showed up...

(I'll give you a hint...The answer rhymes with "Dell Mo!")...

Now let's see the REAL reason for such a crowd...

The Decemberists, Barack Obama Team for PDX Rally

Quote:
And look who's arrived to give Obama the extra push he needs to get on the ballot in November. Why, it's none other than those kings and queens of the month after, the Decemberists!

Singin' Colin Meloy, Chris Funk, Jenny Conlee, Nate Query, and recent solo-flyer John Moen will join the Obama-non himself for a free rally at the Bowl at Portland's Waterfront Park this Sunday, May 18. Gates open at 12:30 p.m. PDX time. For more info and RSVP details, head here.

Apart from this bit of politicking, the Decemberists have only one other show coming up: a sweater-tuggers' love-in with Death Cab for Cutie and Rogue Wave in Bend, Oregon later this month.

Obamaists:

05-18 Portland, OR - The Bowl at Waterfront Park (Barack Obama Rally) *
So now we find that this was ALSO a free concert played by the Decemberists, which is a major label band who hails from?...You got it!...Portland, Oregon!...

Now I have NO problem with having a band coming out for their candidate and holding a free show...

What I DO have a problem with is when the media DOESN'T REPORT IT and tells the public that the ONLY reason there were 75,000 in the park that day was Obama and NOT that there was a free concert held by a popular hometown band...

The magazine is being stupid.
(Other adjectives may clearly apply as well... )

I would presume that they knew about the other event.
(Otherwise, that just makes them pathetically negligent.)

Sigh. My first reaction was to ask if you meant "Elmo"...

Default No it wasn't just Obama

Remember the media wetting it's pants over the turn out for Obama at his speech in Portland. How the people turned out in droves to hear.

Well hold on a minute sometimes things aren't as reported.

Obamas Huge Portland Crowd Was Because Of A Free Rock Concert By Communist-Sympathizing Musicians

.....The thing is, it gets worse for Obama. Not only was this big crowd hyped by the media with no mention of the fact that it was a crowd for a rock concert and not just Obama, the rock band in question calls themselves the Decemberists after the Russian Decembrist Revolt. The band is fond of playing the Soviet national anthem at the beginning of shows, and has popular songs like “Sixteen Military Wives” which depicts America as an international bully declaring war on innocent nations

Just what Obama needs while suffering from criticism about his connections to Rev. Jeremiah “God Damn America” Wright and William “Bomb ‘Em All” Ayers

Sounds like the perfect band to attract an Obama crowd to me.

Worse still is the band is notably pro-Communist.

I think that little embarrassing tidbit might also be part of the motivation to have not mentioned them.

The NY Times didn't want to be honest by admitting that the band that opened for Obama often opens their concerts with the National Anthem of the Soviet Union.

Do you think anyone will actually question Obama about this?

He MAY be questioned on it...

Of course, he'll just push the tape recoder and say the same thing he's been saying for the last two months...

"Let's not talk about this distraction...please stop focusing on anything but how much support I am getting."...

?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ??????????????

There was a record turn out for Obama at the Idaho Center, in Boise, where he spoke a few months ago. And I'm pretty sure there weren't any communist rock bands. LOL

Mr. Obama seems headed for a win in Oregon, according to early polls and the views of aides in both campaigns. He held a rally in Portland on Sunday night that drew an estimated 75,000 people, easily the largest campaign rally of the year. One of the many discordant things about this campaign is that the huge rally crowds that have greeted him have not necessarily turned into victories. (And in this case, could the crowd size have been swollen by the warm-up appearance of the popular Portland indie-pop band, The Decemberists?)

correction. Senator Obama spoke at the Taco Bell Arena, not the Idaho Center.

The crowd was estimated at over fourteen thousand.Obama speaks to big crowd in Boise | KTVB.COM | Idaho News
Boise population is 185,787 Search results - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

of which 1,437 are black or African American. The total percentage of whites in the state is 96.99%. The state has voted Republican by 68.38% to the Dem's 30.26%.
Until recently to vote in the primary, one did not have to declare a party. I searched but could not locate information on whether a bill to change that rule passed. But the Dems held a caucus in February and the Republicans hold a primary election on May 27th IdahoVotes.gov
I believe Ron Paul is still on the ballot.

I said all that to say this (paraphrasing Tricky Dick), Obama's crowd drawing ability here was significant.
