Whenever I want to hear what terrorists want to hear, I turn on the BBC...

I have th BBC saved as one of my news sources on the computer. I have listened to the radio broadcast many times while on the road with my husband (truck driver). I honestly didn't know it came on at night. I listen to Art Bell (George Nory) sometimes.
I used to LOVE talk radio and listened to the Grand Ole Opry out in the car. Those were the days, I guess.

BBC edits out the word terrorist

Quote:
The BBC has re-edited some of its coverage of the London Underground and bus bombings to avoid labelling the perpetrators as "terrorists", it was disclosed yesterday.

Early reporting of the attacks on the BBC's website spoke of terrorists but the same coverage was changed to describe the attackers simply as "bombers".

The BBC's guidelines state that its credibility is undermined by the "careless use of words which carry emotional or value judgments".

Consequently, "the word 'terrorist' itself can be a barrier rather than an aid to understanding" and its use should be "avoided", the guidelines say
I don't think there needs to be an "aid to understanding" when I call these folks "morons"...

Funny, funny comment.
But I do see their point. Another reason, I think, is it's good to avoid overusing a word so the public listener doesn't get so tired of it he turns a deaf ear.

First, if that's a true reason for it, then they should SAY that's a reason for it...

Second, one would think the masses wouldn't be more tired of the WORD "terrorism" then...

...ACTUAL F-IN' TERRORISM!!!!

When people are more pissed at the WORDS then the actions, then that's a pretty f-ed up world we live in...

I listen to the BBC,I like to keep my friends close and my enemies closer! I'm also a big fan of talk radio and I've been on a few shows over the years.Art is great but "temperamental" and fickle. Nory is "ok". I remember Larry King long before he was a "star".In those days,Larry was a huge liberal and so was I....Now he does everything he can to avoid confrontation..what a shame but I understand why. Anyone remember Larry Glick - WBZ Boston?

I still do listen to Old time radio on XM. KNX in LA used to broadcast old shows every night at about 9:00 p.m.. And like you. I used to listen to Larry before he homogenized himself. I actually have a funny story about the Larry King show

I drove across country to a friends house in San Diego. He was out of town and left me the key. I was alone and had never spent any time there before so I didn't know anyone.
Late that night I was trying to unwind I was laying on the floor with all the lights out. I was lying next to a large cabinet speaker listening to Larry King. He was interviewing an expert on Polterguest phenomina. I was just laying there quitly when all of the sudden there was a giant crash. And I felt this stuff all over me. And its kind of wet.
Now I am a full grown adult. And I'll tell you I was scared shitless. It took me ten minutes moving at the speed of a glacier to the wall switch. When I finally got there and flipped the switch I found the source of my terror.
A hanging plant had fallen from the ceiling on to the speaker I was next to and all the wet dirt had come flying out all over me.
Probably the most scared I've been as an adult.
