John McCain makes it two weeks in a row on the Sunday talk shows, as he tries to jumpstart his flagging presidential campaign in its closing days.

The Republican senator from Arizona will appear on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” live from Waterloo, Iowa.

Can he get the Straight Talk Express back on track?

“Meet” moderator Tom Brokaw will also lead a roundtable on the week’s politics with analyst Charlie Cook and NBC's Kelly O'Donnell and Chuck Todd.

On CBS, “Face the Nation” focuses on the nation's dismal economy and its impact on the presidential race, as Barack Obama backer and former Clinton Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin debates McCain economic adviser Douglas Holtz-Eakin.

Next up, a pair of swing state governors — Democrat Ed Rendell of Pennsylvania and Republican Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota — continue their tours of the Sunday shows.

ABC’s “This Week” offers up what should be an interesting pairing, as the always outspoken Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-Ill.) debates McCain confidant Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.).

Will moderator George Stephanopoulos get in a word edgewise?

And what will former GE CEO Jack Welch, who's also stopping by "This Week," have to say about the economy? Just how deep might a recession be?

“Fox News Sunday” leads with an inside look at two of the most crucial swing states, featuring interviews with Democratic Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine and former Republican Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge.

Ridge made waves this week when he said the race “would be different,” if McCain had picked him as his running mate.

Will he explain how on Sunday?

Finally, the always quotable Karl Rove, who guided President Bush to two presidential wins, offers his analysis of the waning days of this campaign.

CNN’s “Late Edition” also features a slew of surrogates, as the two presidential campaigns make a last-ditch effort to woo voters.

First up are a pair of influential senators — Obama supporter Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Ind.) and McCain backer Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.), followed by Obama supporter Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-Fla.) and McCain supporter Rep. Heather Wilson (R-N.M.).

Just nine days before Election Day, C-SPAN’s “Newsmakers” features an interview with Federal Election Commission Chairman Donald McGahn, who’ll be questioned by Jim Kuhnhenn of The Associated Press and Matthew Mosk of The Washington Post.

And with Congress launching a high-profile probe into the causes of the financial crisis, Bloomberg’s “Political Capital” host Al Hunt interviews House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Rep. Henry A. Waxman (D-Calif.)

Quote:

After two years of nearly nonstop campaign Sundays, the final round of talk shows before Election Day is upon us.

But then, who’s counting.

This Sunday, NBC’s “Meet the Press” leads with a man who knows a thing or two about the frantic last days of a presidential race — Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.), the unsuccessful Democratic nominee in 2004.

Moderator Tom Brokaw also discusses the race with former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson, who’s supporting fellow Republican John McCain. And Brokaw looks forward to Tuesday’s elections in a roundtable discussion with The Washington Post’s David Broder, NPR’s Michele Norris and NBC’s David Gregory and Chuck Todd.

ABC’s “This Week” features interviews with two of the busiest men in the country right now — McCain campaign manager Rick Davis and Obama senior strategist David Axelrod.

Host George Stephanopoulos also breaks down the final week on the campaign trail in a roundtable with Time's Mark Halperin and ABC's Donna Brazile, Matthew Dowd and George Will.

And Axelrod pulls double Sunday duty, also appearing on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” where he’ll square off against McCain confidante Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.).

Host Bob Schieffer also explores the possibility of a filibuster-proof, 60-seat Democratic majority in the Senate, with a debate between Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Chairman Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman John Ensign (R-Nev.).

The two have been battling each other now for almost two years. Will they play nice as the race heads down to the wire?

Davis also does double duty, stopping by “Fox News Sunday” to face off against Obama campaign manager David Plouffe.

After hearing from both campaigns, President Bush’s old political counselor Karl Rove will offer his latest analysis.

CNN’s “Late Edition” expands to a special three-hour edition Sunday, with all sorts of interviews with presidential surrogates.

For Obama, the senator from Illinois, there’ll be Sen. Robert P. Casey Jr. (D-Pa.) and Democratic Govs. Tim Kaine of Virginia and Deval Patrick of Massachusetts.

And for McCain, the senator from Arizona, there’ll be Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) and Republican Govs. Mark Sanford of South Carolina and Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota.

On Bloomberg’s "Political Capital,” host Al Hunt interviews retiring Rep. Tom Davis (R-Va.), who ran the National Republican Congressional Committee for several election cycles.

Finally, C-SPAN’s “Newsmakers” features representatives from a pair of powerful interest groups — Change to Win Executive Director Chris Chafe and William Miller of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

And ... so you won’t miss a thing, or any of the football that follows, don’t forget to set your clocks back an hour Saturday night.

The election may be over, but the Sunday talk shows must go on. And President-elect Barack Obama’s choice as White House chief of staff is making the rounds, stopping by two shows – CBS’ “Face the Nation” and ABC’s “This Week.”

Will Rahm Emanuel offer any clues, on either show, as to who else will be joining the new administration?

On CBS, host Bob Schieffer also leads a roundtable discussion on the new administration with Politico’s John Harris and New York Times columnist David Brooks.

On ABC, host George Stephanopoulos looks back, too, at a momentous week in a roundtable with ABC’s George Will, Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Cynthia Tucker, Newsweek's Fareed Zakaria and former White House adviser David Gergen.

With all eyes now on transition of power, NBC’s “Meet the Press” leads with Valerie Jarrett, a co-chairwoman of Obama’s transition team.

Will she offer any hints on Cabinet posts?

Also, House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) and Sen. Mel Martinez (R-Fla.) discuss the incoming Congress.

Finally, moderator Tom Brokaw reviews Tuesday’s historic election with presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, Newsweek’s Jon Meacham and Chicago Sun-Times columnist Mary Mitchell.

CNN’s “Late Edition,” features interviews with two major political players – Republican California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.). And John Podesta, another co-chairman of the Obama transistion team, drops by to discuss the new Democratic administration ahead.

Speculation has been running rampant over the fate of independent Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut. But will Reid offer any pronouncements Sunday?

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair rounds out the CNN lineup, offering his thoughts on Obama’s ascendancy.

“Fox News Sunday” looks at the future of the GOP following another devastating election cycle, with interviews with Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.), poised to become House minority whip, and Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.), who looks set to take over as chairman of the House Republican Conference. And host Chris Wallace discusses the new White House with Podesta.

On Bloomberg TV, “Political Capital” host Al Hunt interviews former Clinton presidential adviser and civil rights pioneer Vernon Jordan.

And C-SPAN’s “Newsmakers” scores a big get, too, landing the current White House Chief of Staff Joshua Bolten to discuss the transition of power.

The political future of the GOP will be the focus of the Sunday talk shows with party leaders fresh from the Republican Governors' Association conference on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” ABC’s “This Week” and “Fox News Sunday.”

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, though, won’t be in the Sunday mix — at least not as a guest.

A full slate of Republican leaders will be on "Fox News Sunday" — Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, Arizona Sen. Jon Kyl and former Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael Steele, who just announced his bid for chairman of the Republican National Committee.

Louisiana’s Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal stops by “Face the Nation,” where he and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) will lay out their vision for the party.

And headlining “This Week" is California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, the only Republican governor that we know for sure won’t run for president in 2012 (having been born in Austria).

The debate over a bailout package for Detroit automakers is driving the other Sunday shows.

On NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mich.), will square off against Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) over the auto bailout that the Senate intends to debate Monday. Texas oilman T. Boone Pickens also makes the lineup, which is rounded out with a panel, including The New York Times’ Tom Friedman, BBC’s Katty Kay, radio talk show host Tavis Smiley and NBC’s Andrea Mitchell.

Shelby will also stop by “Face the Nation” where he’ll face Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), chairman of the House Financial Services Committee.

On CNN’s “Late Edition,” the panel will debate the new bailout and gossip over President-elect Barack Obama’s future Cabinet, among other things.

Among the panelists: The Weekly Standard’s Stephen Hayes, The Washington Times’ Brian Debose and Tara Wall, Democratic strategist Chris Kofinis, CEO for the Center of American Progress Action Fund Jennifer Palmieri and The Huffington Post’s Nico Pitney.

C-SPAN’s “Newsmakers” hosts Rep. John B. Larson (D-Conn.), who’ll be questioned by Politico’s Martin Kady II and Congressional Quarterly’s Jesse Hamilton.

Finally, Bloomberg’s “Political Capital” scores Republican Govs. Charlie Christ of Florida and Mark Sanford of South Carolina.

A potential bailout for Detroit’s automakers tops the TV chatter Sunday, as top economic policymakers from both parties make the rounds on the talk shows.

Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm and Sen. Carl Levin, both Democrats, will be joined by a native son, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, a Republican, on CNN’s “Late Edition,” in addition to Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas), former Clinton Labor Secretary Robert Reich and publisher Steve Forbes.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Austan Goolsbee, an economic adviser to President-elect Barack Obama, will tackle the bailout issues on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

And on Bloomberg TV, “Political Capital” host Al Hunt interviews United Auto Workers President Ron Gettelfinger.

On NBC's “Meet the Press,” former Democratic Commerce Secretary William Daley and former Republican Secretary of State James Baker will discuss the prospects being floated for their old jobs in the new Obama administration.

Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman (I-Conn.) will also stop by discuss the Democrats’ decision to keep him as chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee, despite his vigorous support of Republican John McCain over Democrat Obama in the presidential race.

And host Tom Brokaw convenes a roundtable of CNBC's Erin Burnett, former Wall Street Journal Detroit bureau chief Paul Ingrassia and NBC’s Chuck Todd to discuss the deluge of bad auto and economic news.

Obama senior adviser David Axlerod will sit down on ABC’s “This Week,” along with Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.). And host George Stephanopoulos will convene a roundtable, too, with ABC’s George Will, American Prospect's Robert Kuttner, Huffington Post's Arianna Huffington and The New York Times’ David Brooks.

Axlerod will also appear on “Fox News Sunday,” along with House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (D-Md.) and House Minority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio).

And on C-SPAN’s “Newsmakers,” the new House Republican whip, Virginia Rep. Eric Cantor, will take questions from McClatchy’s David Lightman and The Washington Post’s Paul Kane.

Quote:
The Sunday talk shows are taking a reflective look back at the outgoing administration of President George W. Bush and peeking ahead to the new administration of Barack Obama this Thanksgiving weekend.

First lady Laura Bush headlines NBC’s “Meet the Press,” where she and the Afghan ambassador to the United States, Said Jawad, will look back on the U.S.-led war against the Taliban and ahead to the war-torn country's future.

Laura Bush has visited Afghanistan three times while her husband has been president, the last time in June. On each visit, she’s spotlighted development programs for women, particularly education. So, expect some special attention to those issues Sunday — and some discussion of the changing of the guard at the White House on Jan. 20.

CNN founder Ted Turner also will stop by to promote his new memoir, “Call Me Ted.”

On CBS’s “Face the Nation” a special roundtable panel of The Washington Post’s Bob Woodward, Newsweek’s Fareed Zakaria, The New Yorker’s Jane Mayer and Georgetown University’s Michael Eric Dyson assesses the Bush administration’s prosecution of the war against terrorism and discusses the historic implications of Obama’s election as the nation’s first African-American president.

Other Sunday shows will look ahead to the new Obama administration, which began to take early shape with the introduction of his economic team, to be followed Monday with the expected announcement of the key players on his foreign affairs and national security teams.

Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who supported Republican John McCain in the presidential race, and Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.), who backed Obama, will look at the president-elect’s emerging foreign policy on “Fox News Sunday.” And Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.) will discuss his runoff election Tuesday against Democrat Jim Martin.

The political ramifications of the terrorist attacks on Mumbai, India, will be the focus of Sens. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) and Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) on CNN’s “Late Edition.”

And United Auto Workers President Ron Gettelfinger will discuss the prospects of a congressional bailout for the U.S. auto industry, as the top executives of the Big Three — Ford, Chrysler and General Motors — prepare for a new round of hearings on Capitol Hill.

ABC's “This Week” also focuses on the Mumbai attacks and on the new Obama administration with Sens. Jack Reed (D-R.I.) and Dick Lugar (R-Ind.), and a roundtable hosted by George Stephanopoulos.

Finally, on Bloomberg TV, “Political Capital” host Al Hunt lands Obama transition director John Podesta to go over the president-elect's staff and Cabinet picks.
