I highly doubt it took this thread for you to learn men are pigs and women lie about not talking about other women.

I have always known men are pigs! I know women talk about other women but not in a catty way unless, as in the open-plan offices I have worked in, those women are in positions of authority and not popular with the rest of the staff.

Seriously, the first thing I learned on here was of the different media stations affiliated to different political parties.

Next I learned the men immediately judged Rachel's political views rather than keeping to the subject of the supposed 'overuse of make-up' of the Fox ladies.

I then learned that because they don't, for whatever reason, like Rachel's face, body or mannerisms they ridicule her.

Then rather than go on the defensive they attack those on the forum who do not agree with them.

Sorry, not used to this at all, but there you go.... I am toughening up!

There are certainly catty women out there, but there are just as many catty men. So I cannot say at ALL that women are worse about it. Because in my experience, they most assuredly are NOT. And that is evidenced right here in this thread.
In my experience, men judge a woman on her general fvckability (and are not picky); women judge a woman on her fashion sense.
When I hear women criticize other women, it is usually some snarky criticism of her shoes, her new haircut, or a speculation about how many times this month she's worn those same pants. Occasionally weight- whether lost or gained- is a topic. Especially when a woman is pregnant or post-partum.

Women's criticism usually refers to things that could be changed, therefore is more "constructive" than men's.

Having grown up wearing a school uniform and not learned how to dress when I was younger, I've actually found women's criticism quite helpful.
I mean, if one woman is making fun of my outfit, then maybe she's just a bitch or she's jealous of me or whatever. If ten women are making fun of my outfit, then my outfit probably sucks and maybe I should change it.

I think you have it spot-on here.

My experience, as I think I mentioned somewhere above, is women are more critical of other women if they don't like their character or personality. My best friend who tries very hard and usually succeeds in not saying a bad word about anyone does indeed have a bad word or two to say about someone she doesn't like, but tries to hide her dislike.

I wouldn't worry about what 10 others think of my outfit, not that I dress anything other than pretty much carefully anyway.

Exactly. Which parallels what I said earlier about women don't generally criticize the person herself, but rather her clothes, shoes, hair style, makeup, etc. Whereas men turn into nasty pigs and compare women to farm animals and deem them "double baggers"

However much they try to appear that they respect women it soon surfaces doesn't it?
