Shuster Suspended For "Pimped Out" Comment

Another guy getting thrown under the bus because the big, bad candidate wants to play victim...

Wolfson called the comment "beneath contempt" and disgusting.

"I, at this point, can't envision a scenario where we would continue to engage in debates on that network," he added.

Clinton and Barack Obama are scheduled to participate in an MSNBC debate Feb. 26 from Ohio, which holds its primary March 4. The Clinton campaign has pushed hard for as many debates as possible with Obama, but Wolfson said the Feb. 26 debate could be jeopardized.

Wolfson pointed to what he called a pattern of tasteless comments by MSNBC anchors about the Clinton campaign. Weeks ago, "Hardball" host Chris Matthews apologized to the former first lady after suggesting her political career had been made possible her husband's philandering.

MSNBC has apologized on-air for Shuster's remark, but Wolfson said neither Chelsea nor Sen. Clinton had received a phone call offering a personal apology.

OOOOOhhhhhhh!!!!!...

Somebody called you out for using your daughter to make superdelegate phone calls...oooooohhhhhh....

What I DON'T see is Hillary's campaign actually trying to defend or explain the ACTIONS instead of killing the messenger...

And a nice little THREAT to the media outlet if they don't get in line just added the "Clinton touch"...

The "pimped out" reference is about a comment Shuster made while filling in for Tucker Carlson yesterday. He was talking about Chelsea Clinton's role in her mother's campaign. Shuster said, "Doesn't it seem like Chelsea's sort of being pimped out in some weird sort of way?"

I think this comment is way over the line! I doubt Chelsea,an intelligent and independent adult is being "used" or "pimped out" against her will. I believe she wants to help her mothers campaighn. If lobbying a delegate violates election law then proceed with filing charges. I'm sorry,Chelsea has been a target of the right in the past.Now Shuster thinks she is being pimped out.

The comment was inappropriate and needlessly raw..

An apology was in order and an apology was delivered.

It's a different context and you know it.Shuster accused the Clintons of pimping out their own daughter..

I don't like the term "pimping" used by anyone but the context here is entirely different.

Are you telling me that Olberman did NOT mean the opposite of your words comment or do you think his accusation was EXACTLY that Petraus was not "an intelligent and independent adult is being "used" or "pimped out" against his will"?...

Same thing...

The ONLY difference is that one said it about a family member and the other one did not...

If you think that it's OK for someone to say it about a non-family member and NOT get suspended for it, but ALSO okay for someone to say it about a family member AND get suspended for it, have fun with that, but I see a position of political correctness...

If he said "Obama is pimping out Ted Kennedy", you wouldn't think the same suspension would be in order?...

Chelse happens to be the Clinton's "daughter" and Shuster is saying they pimped her out! Keith made his statement in an entirely different context.You are the one politicising this not me. You think the Clinton's are fair game including their daughter. I would have no objection to Keith being suspended along with Shuster,I own no stock in MSNBC and I'm not a fan of Keith's.Just don't try to tell me that these statements were made in the "same" context!

I said they're different as well...But the RESULTS of saying it ended up being different also, which is hypocritical...

The difference is the EXACT same as a black guy on the radio saying "nigger", but the white guy does it and loses his job...

If the term shouldn't be used AT ALL as you say, then MSNBC is TWISTING your conclusion to mean "You shouldn't say it, but if you do, we'll let it slide if you mention Bush in there somewhere, but if you mention a Democrat, we'll tan your hide!."...

Again,I just don't like the term "pimped out" and I believe it is a poor choice of terminology for anyone in broadcast news. That's just my opinion,the terminology becomes more egregious when used against someones daughter.I am a father and if I had my daughter mowing the lawn I would not like it if my neighbor said I was pimping her out to do chores. You see,this goes even beyond political theater.If I were in charge with programming at MSNBC,I would have both Shuster and Olbermann apologize for their poor choice of words...

Some may say the term "pimped out" has become an accepted part of American vernacular.I dissagree,at least it's not acceptable by me...
