You would THINK that...but it's just not true...

Cable and Internet Loom Large in Fragmented Political News Universe

Quote:
The 2004 presidential campaign is continuing the long-term shift in how the public gets its election news. Television news remains dominant, but there has been further erosion in the audience for broadcast TV news. The Internet, a relatively minor source for campaign news in 2000, is now on par with such traditional outlets as public television broadcasts, Sunday morning news programs and the weekly news magazines. And young people, by far the hardest to reach segment of the political news audience, are abandoning mainstream sources of election news and increasingly citing alternative outlets, including comedy shows such as the Daily Show and Saturday Night Live, as their source for election news...

...Cable news networks are the most frequently cited source of campaign news for young people, but the Internet and comedy programs also are important conduits of election news for Americans under 30. One-in-five young people say they regularly get campaign news from the Internet, and about as many (21%) say the same about comedy shows such as Saturday Night Live and the Daily Show. For Americans under 30, these comedy shows are now mentioned almost as frequently as newspapers and evening network news programs as regular sources for election news...

...Comedy programs are increasingly becoming regular sources of news for younger Americans, and are beginning to rival mainstream news outlets within this generation. Today, 21% of people under age 30 say they regularly learn about the campaign and the candidates from comedy shows like Saturday Night Live and the Daily Show, twice as many as said this four years ago (9%). (Note: In January 2000, the show Politically Incorrect was listed with Saturday Night Live, rather than the Daily Show.) And this is particularly true for younger men, 27% of whom regularly learn about the campaign from comedy shows, compared with 14% of young women.

Overall, one out of every two young people (50%) say they at least sometimes learn about the campaign from comedy shows, nearly twice the rate among people age 30-49 (27%) and four times the rate among people age 50 and older (12%).

Of course not...

But in a world where many people don't care about delving deeply into what's going on and getting all of the facts, the only thing they hear is the superficial stuff...

...and then take it as gospel...

I just don't see how any person with two brain cells to rub together can confuse The Daily Show with real news.

I guess he can't be in the same room with Matthews cause they're too much alike...
Oh, please.

And what, exactly, would you call Bill O'Reilly or Hannity and Cholmes?

Come on. Whether you agree with them or not, they have a right to their shows and a right to their opinions. If you don't like it, don't watch them.

The style of it is similar to 'Friday Night Live News'.

Straight from their 'about' page.

One anchor, five correspondents, zero credibility.

If you're tired of the stodginess of the evening newscasts and you can't bear to sit through the spinmeisters and shills on the 24-hour cable news network, don't miss The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, the nightly half-hour series unburdened by objectivity, journalistic integrity or even accuracy.

The Emmy and Peabody Award-winning Daily Show takes a reality-based look at news, trends, pop culture, current events, politics, sports and entertainment with an alternative point of view. In each show, anchorman Jon Stewart and a team of correspondents, including Aasif Mandvi, John Oliver, Rob Riggle, Jason Jones and Samantha Bee, comment on the day's stories, employing actual news footage, taped field pieces, in-studio guests and on-the-spot coverage of important news events.

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart -- it's even better than being informed.

In otherwords, although their scripts include actual footages and the like, it isn't real news in any sense. Reason why when you look at the lips of those they are supposedly 'interviewing' or those responding about the interviews, the lips don't match up to the words being said...Dubbed over re-makes.

And, in all fairness, it isn't Jon Stewart's fault if people are to ignorant to realize it's all a spoof.

Anyone remember that show 'Not Necessarily the News'?

Well look at other 'news source' sites we've seen people use on-line...The Onion? Landover Baptist? Whitehouse.Org?

If the spoof is saying is what your opinion is, as far as some people care, it's the 'truth'.

There is no bigger pet peeve for me than when someone attempts to use Worldnet Daily as a news source. I actually get angry when I see that POS rag referenced as true journalism.
