rat, there is a nurse aide who is one of my favourite girls where I work.
Won't say who.. but one of the staff/administrators were pulling up names on FB to see what they were up to in their private lives.
I called bull**** during the next nurses inservice.
Didn't make me all that popular, but I feel what someone does and says on their own private time should be just that, PRIVATE.

All of the local PD and Sheriff's offices around here have you log in to your facebook during one of the interviews and they go through it.

Hmmm...Hopefully they'll outlaw it in your area too.

I remember when employers got on the Lie detector kick That was a crock and a half. Finally it was outlawed for pre employment.

Ha, ironiclly it isn't outlawed for Police,Military, or Firefighters/EMTs. The agency I hope to work for uses both polygraphs and voice stress analyzers.

Polygraphs cannot determine if a person is telling the truth. It's good for pinpointing motive or something. Especially since so many people have slight heart murmurs. Anyway I guess you gotta do whatever for that kind of job, but it's embarrassing and may interfere with getting another job if one "fails". And sociopaths can lie like a rug and never tweak the machine.

I would have to reply..."Sorry, I don't remember my password. It's automatically entered on my computer at home. You'll have to look at it there. And. Bring. A. Search. Warrant!"

It was a bigger problem than that. It's only been in the last 10 years or so that sex forced on an inmate by a correction officer was considered rape. Because of the power disparity between LEO/correction officers and inmates, the law now considers it a form of rape and there is no consent on the part of the inmates.

Well, if someone posts something on facebook with privacy settings to public, then it's not their 'private life' any longer. I have no issue with someone looking someone up on facebook. That's not an invasion of privacy.

However, if someone's settings are NOT set to public and are available only to specific individuals they designate, then that information is not public, it's private. And the only way they can see it is to login as the individual in question, which is not much different than an employer demanding to see a diary, or go through someone's photo albums, or read a box of letters. This I have an issue with.

Pretty much everything on my FB page is set to public. I can't exactly claim an invasion of privacy if everyone in the world sees it.

I don't use Facebook at all.

Employers have a right to tell their employees not to use certain sites during work hours.

To restrict sites during work hours is one thing. Their time, their buck.

To want to see what you are doing in your private life, on private time, is a whole 'nuther.
