Default NY Prosecutor Admits He Acted in 1970s Porn Films

And now he's looking for a well-hung jury...

NY Prosecutor Admits He Acted in 1970s Porn Films

Quote:
A district attorney in upstate New York has admitted that he acted in pornographic movies in the 1970s, then lied when questioned about it during his second campaign.

Mark Suben, the DA in Cortland County near Syracuse since 2008, held a news conference Friday to say he had lied about his past in the days before this year's election.

"Recently materials have been circulated alleging that I was involved in the adult film industry about 40 years ago in New York. Those allegations are true," he said. "I was an actor in adult films for a short period in the early '70s. I was also an actor in other venues including off-Broadway, soap operas and commercial advertisements."

He apologized for his actions and said he used "bad judgment" by acting in porn and by lying about it. He wouldn't take questions, including whether he should resign. On his way out of the news conference, several people said, "You lied to me, Mark."

Suben's spokeswoman, Aimee Milks, said Suben will not resign.

"This was nearly 40 years ago. It was not illegal. Mark Suben was not yet married. He was not practicing law and he was not a law student," Milks said. "It has nothing to do with his law practice or his current position as the district attorney of Cortland County."
He was also in commercials?

"Please don't squeeze the Charmin...or my junk."...

Wouldn't it have been refreshing if he'd just said, that it was legal, I was a young idiot?

There is a popular book in Alaska. Towards the end are pictures of dignified, sweet looking elderly women with accomplishments such as helping to establish local libraries, and organizations, I seem to recall that one founded a gardening club. They were pillars of young Alaskan towns, their graying heads held high. The book is about reminiscences of gold-rush era prostitutes in Alaska.

I love the implication that he's somehow a horrible person now. If we don't have faith that our fellow person can change, why do we have a prison system?

Everyone gets old, sex workers included. They stop being sex workers long before they get old, if only because they become unmarketable. At that point, they have to be something else. Many of them, all along, were something else, and being a sex worker was only a minor part of their lives, and no part at all of their self-identity.

Hey now, up here in NY we are just glad if somebody in government has any talent. That is about 80 miles from me.

But here's the problem...

It's that old adage "It's not the crime, but the coverup"...

THIS should've been his response...IMMEDIATELY upon questioning...

Quote:
"Yeah...I dd a couple pornos back in the 70s...I was young and carefree, and not one of my proudest moments, but I did it. It was a gazillion years ago, and it's irrelevant to anything involving me, this election, or the office I'm running for now."
But he didn't...He LIED about it instead...

Being in a porno over 30 years isn't an issue...

Being a candidate who is willing to lie right before an election IS...
