Honestly, I don't think it's like that. He's the freakin governor...he has security concerns, tighter schedules than you or I would even tolerate and a whole host of other concerns that don't allow him to just walk to work because he feels like it.

And I don't really think a public event announcement to raise awareness is him giving an order that you don't drive your cars. It was a declaration of an awareness event and a dozen of them happen every day all over the country.

This is a nonissue. Unless you're a mouthfoaming partisan hack.

He made an announcement about a civic event to raise awareness.

He's the governor. I would be a little more bothered if he were blowing money on security details so he could take a stroll.

The important questions are:

1) Is taking exception to this going to fix the economy?
2) Is this issue in any way relevant to getting our troops back home?
3) Jobs?
4) Is this issue hindering us getting the debt under control?

No? Ok then...it's a non issue.

I didn't say that. But if you are going to make an issue out of something, you should be prepared for others to point out why it may not really be an issue at all.

If any person, including the governor, has security concerns, then in my opinion they are free to act on them and take whatever precautions they feel necessary. I simply oppose a two tiered system where the patricians are treated one way and the plebs another.

And you are right in that he is not issuing an order. It is merely a public relations campaign, so I probably should be more measured in my response. But I'm also not being partisan; I can't stand either party. They both contain too many politicians.
