Same question I asked Coyote:

If transparency is so important, then shouldn't you be all over this???
I don't know that he isn't being transparent just because someone thought he said something palliative to Mrs Brady. But that is not the subject here. Besides I stated twice at least in that thread that I am yes against any infringement on gun rights except mentally handicapped and violent fire arm offenders, especially if done in an underhanded way.

I don't know. Does everything every portion of the government does require complete transparancy as in an "open meetings' type of law? In fact - it would create a terrific backlog and the need for yet another layer of bureaucracy I'm thinking.

Anything involving legislation should be up before the citizens for comment and action before it's passed.

I could be completely wrong here and I'm willing to listen to arguments.

What are the laws regarding openness on the Federal Level? The media is the primary watchdog on this, and Congress is supposed to have a job of "oversight". I was certainly upset at the secretiveness of certain parts of the Bush administration in circumventing Congress. Is that what is happening with guns? I will read that thread more carefully.
