Wrong. There was only one person carrying.

There was at least one armed citizen at Cielo Vista Mall near the Walmart in El Paso during the shooting. Army Pfc. Glendon Oakley said in interviews that he was carrying a licensed handgun and drew it when he heard the gunshots on Saturday. “That’s what you do,” he told the military publication Task & Purpose. “You pull your gun, you find cover and you figure out what to do next.”

Edited to add - Only one person can be confirmed that was carrying. I have no idea where you got this 'six' figure from.

Another egg in face moment.

Is It Possible to Stop a Mass Shooting Before It Happens?
https://www.cosmopolitan.com/politic...=pocket-newtab

You’ve never heard of her, but somewhere in America, a top-secret investigator known as the Savant is infiltrating online hate groups to take down the most violent men in the country. Cosmopolitan goes undercover as she races to get ahead of the next large-scale attack.

Michael Finton was living in Decatur, Illinois, a shrinking manufacturing town,

working as a part-time cook at a cheap take-out joint. He was 29 and unmarried, with red hair and white skin, described as polite by his coworkers, as the mild-mannered guy next door by his neighbors. He liked to hang out and play cards and watch soccer. He also wanted to kill as many people as he could.
But no one knew that yet—except for her.

An elite investigator who tracks angry men online, she’s known to some in her field as the Savant because of her uncanny ability to suss out when, exactly, hate speech will morph into violent action. She came across Finton’s Myspace profile in 2007 and was disturbed by what she saw: videos of Islamic extremists carrying out brutal killings alongside quotes glorifying religious martyrdom. The page gave her a primal, hairs-on-end feeling that she’d learned not to ignore.

She started screenshotting everything Finton posted. She dug into his past and found out he’d spent time in prison for assault and robbery and seemed to have adopted radical views behind bars. She kept watching. And as spring turned to summer, Finton’s posts got even darker. That’s when she called the FBI.

What happened next reads like a movie script, except more dramatic and all true. Federal authorities set up a sting operation that resulted in Finton getting into a van he thought was rigged with nearly one ton of explosives. He told his accomplice, in reality an undercover FBI informant, that the blast would be a “historic occasion.” He parked the van outside a federal office building in Springfield, Illinois, where hundreds of people worked. And then, from a few blocks away, he made a call that he thought would trigger the explosion. When nothing happened, he called again.

It could have been one more mass-casualty event on our grim, ever-lengthening list. Columbine. Orlando. Charleston. Gilroy. El Paso. Dayton. But it wasn’t. Because Finton was immediately swarmed by FBI agents and members of the Joint Terrorism Task Force. He was shackled, locked up, and indicted, eventually pleading guilty to one count of attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction against property owned by the United States. He’s now serving 28 years in federal prison.

There were plenty of news articles about Finton’s arrest, but you won’t find her name in any of them. Instead, in reports about her cases, you’ll see words like “tip,” “alerted,” “uncovered.” Words that basically mean her. Even the existence of her work has been largely a mystery. At least, until now. ..
Fantastic lady. We need more people like her.

I don't either and I stand corrected
So one in the crowd was carrying in one of the shootings
and in Dayton, the cops neutralized the situation in 30 seconds.
Looks like I am still correct that just because you're carrying doesn't mean you won't end up dead if the killer has rapid-fire weapons and a lot of ammo

But Look, I get it, and I agree that in some cases the FBI sting ops have targeted Stings at people with a mentality just above Forest Gump and have gotten them falsely arrested and imprisoned for "terrorism" and many other things.

I've read that at one so-called Right-wing extremist "camp" in Oklahoma there were more FBI agents than real extremist."

So i get it.
To your point here are articles on the FBI's using FAKE sting operations. makes sting seems like FBI make-work programs rather than real law enforcement.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011...=FBCNETTXT9038

Critics say bureau is running a sting operation across America, targeting vulnerable people by luring them into fake terror plots

The FBI has drawn criticism over its apparent use of 'entrapment' tactics.

David Williams did not have an easy life. He moved to Newburgh, a gritty, impoverished town on the banks of the Hudson an hour or so north of New York, at just 10 years old. For a young, black American boy with a father in jail, trouble was everywhere.
Williams also made bad choices. He ended up going to jail for dealing drugs. When he came out in 2007 he tried to go straight, but money was tight and his brother, Lord, needed cash for a liver transplant. Life is hard in Newburgh if you are poor, have a drug rap and need cash quickly.
His aunt, Alicia McWilliams, was honest about the tough streets her nephew was dealing with. "Newburgh is a hard place," she said. So it was perhaps no surprise that in May, 2009, David Williams was arrested again and hit with a 25-year jail sentence. But it was not for drugs offences. Or any other common crime. Instead Williams and three other struggling local men beset by drug, criminal and mental health issues were convicted of an Islamic terrorist plot to blow up Jewish synagogues and shoot down military jets with missiles.
Even more shocking was that the organisation, money, weapons and motivation for this plot did not come from real Islamic terrorists. It came from the FBI, and an informant paid to pose as a terrorist mastermind paying big bucks for help in carrying out an attack. For McWilliams, her own government had actually cajoled and paid her beloved nephew into being a terrorist, created a fake plot and then jailed him for it. "I feel like I am in the Twilight Zone," she told the Guardian.
Lawyers for the so-called Newburgh Four have now launched an appeal that will be held early next year. Advocates hope the case offers the best chance of exposing the issue of FBI "entrapment" in terror cases. "We have as close to a legal entrapment case as I have ever seen," said Susanne Brody, who represents another Newburgh defendant, Onta Williams.

Some experts agree. "The target, the motive, the ideology and the plot were all led by the FBI," said Karen Greenberg, a law professor at Fordham University in New York, who specialises in studying the new FBI tactics....

"The Informants
The FBI has built a massive network of spies to prevent another domestic attack. But are they busting terrorist plots—or leading them?" link

there's even a book on the subject
The Terror Factory: Inside the FBI's Manufactured War on Terrorism link

so yeah...

We probably could. If we, as a nation, are willing to surrender the following:
!st amendment freedom of speech rights
2nd amendment rights.
4th amendment rights
5th amendment rights.
Basically, if we are willing to change over to a police state, we can probably stop random mass shootings. They will, however, in short order, be replaced by mass shootings by government controlled forces.

Visions of Mao tse Tung, Pol Pot, Stalin, Hitler, many more equally demented murdering psychos in charge of governments, don't appear to stir the anger of the gun control crowd.

No.
I said "right wing extremist".
You know like the guy in ElPaso who just shot up folks because "Mexicans".
and the guy that drove his car into a crowd becasue "White nationalism".
and the guy that shot up the Black church becasue "White America" ain't safe from all the minorities.

Seems to me they are ones that bring race and nationality into the conversation.
But i didn't bring up Trump... or even call them "WHITE wing extremist".

Of course some folks are are just random nut jobs and there's not much one can do to track them. Like disgruntled "postal workers" and the Sutherland Springs TX Church shooter. But even he had tell tales signs. And she seems to be looking into a lot of frustrated dudes who can't get a woman. And write online about justified raping and killing.

seems she's doing good work, pointing out legitimately dangerous people, before they act out.
Racist doesn't equal right wing extremist. Racism isn't something on both sides of the political spectrum. Many early 20th century progressives for example were openly racist and supported eugenics. Like Margaret Sanger for example she was a racist and supported eugenics(although I am sure some leftist will try to argue otherwise despite her quotes supporting racism and eugenics).
