SANDUSKY, Ohio (AP) More than 100 workers at an Ohio gardening and landscaping company were arrested Tuesday when about 200 federal officers descended on the business and carried out one of the largest workplace immigration raids in recent years.

The operation was part of the White House's increasing focus on businesses that hire people in the country illegally amid a broad range of immigration crackdowns under President Donald Trump that include stepped-up deportations, targeting of sanctuary cities and zero-tolerance border policies.

This is going to really hurt Corso's as they have hundred's of acres of fields of perennials that need to be maintained mostly by hand. It will be tough for them to replace these workers while we continue to use our tax dollars to pay lazy citizens not to work. Maybe we can now begin cutting some of these free loaders off, forcing them to work for a living. One can only hope.

This is not he only employer around here that does this. I know of about 10-12 other large employers in this area that have many illegals on the payroll. My brother in law is the comptroller of one of them. But unfortunately, according the to the law, there is nothing the employer can do in these situations. These people show up with what appears to be valid SS numbers and fake credentials that match the SS number.

But hopefully, there are more raids like this in our area and the illegals are shipped back to their countries of origin. It would go a long way in opening up jobs for local HS kids to perform in the summer like we did when I was that age.

While smaller companies (less than 15 employees) aren't usually required to use e verify, a company can voluntarily use it, and stolen identities can be flagged in their system. I know a number of landscape type companies that use it to keep their noses clean, and then again, I know an even larger number who don't. The thing is, the employer can be held responsible for hiring someone even if they present all the 'right' IDs.

They raided a Morristown TN meat packing plant a few months back, and tagged 99 illegals. Since Morristown has about a 3% unemployment rate, they are going to have a rough time filling those positions.

Snowflake Americans don't do any labor, much less hard labor. But lots of teenagers and young people looking for transitional work (perhaps while in school) and older unskilled Americans might appreciate getting a shot at jobs such as these, that illegal aliens long ago took from them. Of course for the same reason those jobs don't pay what they used to, ya know owing to how cheap illegal aliens will work. Obviously to your rather short sighted cheers. :thumbsup

As one of those that did that work when I was in High School, although never for that particular company, I can say you are correct. When I was that age, we would all go work for the local farms. Some went to work at the local produce farms, some for the big greenhouses in the area and others, like me, would work for some of the local farmers bailing hay and helping with planting and harvesting.

However, you don't see that anymore around here. Those same places that need seasonal labor, resorted to hiring immigrants instead of local HS kids. There are a few reasons for this and some of them have to do with parents providing the wants for their kids thus removing any incentive to go out and earn the money to put gas in the car. But it also has to do with the fact that they can hire illegals at less money but get more work out of them.

There used to be a program for temporary entry of farm workers called Braceros. Thanks to lobbying led by Caesar Chavez and sympathetic Democrats the program was discontinued incentivizing illegal aliens to take up residence in the US to avoid the risk and expense of crossing the border. It's ironic the illegal alien has been transformed from someone who undercuts wages to innocent victim high school valedictorian. Caesar Chavez is even invoked by pro amnesty groups. :rolls

Score another huge win for the Donald.

Attacking illegal border invading head on.

Negating non treaty treaties,

After 70 years of nothing, addressing the NoKo issue.

Attempting to reduce or eliminate the AGW industry.

Attacking the one sided international new world order and putting the US on equal footing instead of the US being the world's bank.

And putting America first and making America great again.

aliens didnt take those jobs away; employers brought them here on a work visa and it never was checked for renewal . employers hedged out the white and black people who used to do farm type labor- picking fruit etc. then it caught on in other types employment. then some companies were set for that cheap labor and things got screwed up.
