Default Coalition of African-American Pastors Threaten Civil Disobedience

I hope they go through with it...I'm dying to find out if the Left's hatred of Christianity trumps keeping blacks on the plantation...

I think it will...

Coalition of African-American Pastors Threaten Civil Disobedience If Supreme Court Passes Gay Marriage Law

Quote:
A coalition of African-American pastors vowed this week that there will be massive civil disobedience if the U.S. Supreme Court legalizes same-sex marriage in a ruling on the matter expected this month.

At a press conference in Memphis, Tennessee, members of the Coalition of African-American Pastors joined Christian ministers at the Church of God in Christ's historic Mason Temple to warn the Obama administration to prepare for massive civil disobedience among pastors and clergy if state bans on gay marriage are deemed unconstitutional.

"If they rule for same-sex marriage, then we're going to do the same thing we did for the civil rights movement," said Rev. Bill Owens, president and founder of CAAP. "We will not obey an unjust law."

"The politicians and courts have tried to take God out of this country," continued Owens. "This country was founded on Godly principles. We will not stand back."
I wouldn't be surprised if the Left goes for the win-win by giving these places an exemption and then narrow down the attacks to the Catholics...

Or the left will just take a third option and let the pastors disobey an order from the Supreme Court that has nothing to do with them.

Not sure how one goes about actively not doing something you weren't told you had to do.

The first time some church denies a gay couple the right to marry in their church you watch the government come down on them. The gay weenies will be pizzing and moaning like little girls who lost their Barbies.

You have a SERIOUS victimhood complex.

The majority of people on the left are Christians.

You criticize homosexuals some on this forum. There are different ways you don't support our rights.
How would you feel about somebody (I'm not doing it) claiming you "hate" homosexuals?

Oh wait. Let me guess.
In THAT situation you understand it's criticism of specific things you don't like and NOT hatred for the entire group...

Precisely.

From the article: ""If it comes down to declining to perform same-sex weddings, that we will be charged with a civil or criminal penalty..."
Some on the right here are thriving on the stupidity that gays will be trying to force pastors to perform gay marriage.

Get over your ignorance. I know some people here have the memory of a squirrel and in a couple years when their fear has NOT happened they won't have learned from it, but TRY to have that sort of self-awareness today.

Gay marriage has existed in Massachusetts for over 10 years.
NO pastors being forced to perform gay marriages.

You think there haven't already been cases where a pastor has refused to perform a gay marriage?

HOW LONG before you can learn and recognize that your fear is b.s. ?
If after a year or two you can see it hasn't happened, will you THEN recognize your fear was b.s.?

As we have seen from the recent SCOTUS decision state marriage laws are meaningless compared to the whim of the Federal judiciary detecting new "rights". The Obama administration has already engaged in trying to force religious charities to violate their religious beliefs against birth control and abortion with crippling fines. The same "logic" that proclaims religious based charities must submit to the Federal edicts for health insurance "like everyone else" flows easily into churches must perform homosexuality marriage ceremonies like everyone else. Churches are "free" to practice their religious beliefs except where it doesn't conform to Federal judicial edict.

After all the unconditional advocacy for gay "rights" declared by unelected judges and support for draconian laws that create a bounty system on merchants practicing their religious freedom somehow we are supposed to believe the zealots are going to stop at the church door. It is perfectly OK to crush small businesses rather than subject gay couples to the inconvenience of finding a merchant who will gladly accept their business, yet somehow we are expected to believe these same zealots will not harness the power of government to force any church to submit to their agenda.

Constitutional requirements for respecting rights is not a "whim".

That's right!
Obama himself has tried to strap on a condom onto an unwilling nun and forced her to have sex with somebody else.

The healthcare belongs to the employee. And it should be their choice whether or not to use it.
Claiming the employee's healthcare violates the employers religious beliefs is a mind-boggling twist.

Churches perform religious ceremonies.
The SCOTUS ruling was about governmental recognition of marriage.

You're talking about apples and oranges. The recent ruling has no meaning on whether or not a church has to perform a wedding...
... because the court case had nothing to do with church recognition.

But the right has to paint themselves as the victim when they are denied the capability to use the government for discrimination.
Victim politics is what they do best.
