Default Convicted three times for DWI, man faces murder charges in fatal wreck

A Lewisville man who has been convicted three times of driving while intoxicated now faces murder charges in a collision early Sunday that killed an Argyle woman and her teenage daughter, Lewisville police said Monday.

John Patrick Barton, 29, remained hospitalized Monday in stable condition, said Capt. Jay Powell, a Lewisville police spokesman.

Witnesses told investigators that Barton was speeding and driving erratically on northbound Interstate 35E in Lewisville when his Mazda ran into the rear of a Nissan sedan driven by Kandace Hull, 33, about 2 a.m.

Hull was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner's office.

Her daughter, who has been identified by several media outlets as Autumn Caudle, 14, died at 10:22 a.m. Sunday at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Powell said.

Hull's husband, Anthony Hull, 33, was in good condition Monday morning at Parkland, a hospital spokeswoman said.

A son, 12, and daughter, 16, were taken to Children's Medical Center in Dallas, but their names and medical conditions were unavailable.

Co-workers of Kandace Hull, who worked for Fort Worth-based PhysAssist Scribes, have set up a memorial fund for her family through Wells Fargo Bank.

Here is a picture of this douche bag........

This occurred in a suburb on the north end of Dallas. Why is it that people can be convicted of DWI over and over, yet they are still roaming free untitl they finally kill someone. Somethingis seriously wrong here.

As far as I'm concerned, there is no punishment harsh enough for this. Even the death penalty does not suffice to offset even a portion of the pain this man has inflicted, and I deem it as intentional.

Disgusting....I heard that in Germany your first DWI conviction is your last, they permanently take away your license.

Interesting....

Quote:
"It's almost impossible to [permanently] lose your license in Texas," Alpert said. "Even if you kill someone, that doesn't create a permanent revocation of your license. I'm thinking this may be some sort of legislative fix that we need."

But Alpert said legislators are reluctant to take such drastic action because of the notion that "the driving privilege is something that's inviolate; that people need it to make a livelihood, that they need it to transport families."
That says a lot right there....

Hope the murder charge sticks.
