And that's why I said.."It's their prize to award,it's not the people's choice award"

We may not agree with their selection but they are going by their criteria not ours.

Yet another Obama bashing thread. I get so sick of this. I said the guy (in the article) deserved the award and Obama has said he didn't think he deserved it. So step on him some more. He's young I hope he can take it.

Nobel panel defends decision to award peace prize to Obama

Update

Quote:
Committee members defend decision to honor Obama

OSLO, Norway — In a rare public defense of a process normally shrouded in secrecy, four of the Nobel Peace Prize jury’s five judges spoke out Tuesday about a selection they said was merited and unanimous. To those who say a Nobel is too much too soon in Obama’s young presidency, "We simply disagree.  . . . He got the prize for what he has done," committee Chairman Thorbjorn Jagland said by telephone from Strasbourg, France. Jagland singled out Obama’s efforts to heal the divide between the West and the Muslim world and scale down a Bush-era proposal for an anti-missile shield in Europe. "All these things have contributed to — I wouldn’t say a safer world — but a world with less tension," he said. For nine-year Nobel committee veteran Inger-Marie Ytterhorn, Obama’s demeanor spoke volumes when he first acknowledged the award during a news conference Friday in Washington. "I looked at his face when he was on TV and confirmed that he would receive the prize and would come to Norway, and he didn’t look particularly happy," she said.

This is the EXACT same bullsh*t reasoning that would've landed Neville Chamberlain a Nobel Peace Prize if they were giving one out in 1939...

Agreed...they should just skip the bullsh*t ...the truth is this..they were attempting to influence policy. You and I both recognized this right off the bat. That said..I find it difficult to blame Obama, the Nobel prize should not be a political carrot...

In fact lately Obama has out-Chamberlained Chamberlain.

He backs down on the European missile shield, after Russia gives him a hand-shake deal saying they'll support him on sanctions for Iran. The first thing Russia does, of course, is renege on the deal, and now there's little Poland and Czechoslovakia shaking in front of the Russian bear, with Ahdminejad smiling as he goes about building his nukes. Chamberlain much?

A few days ago The One was talking about making deals with the Taliban, because even if they do take over again (and failing military support they will) 'Hey, they're not so bad'. It's not like they'd make deals with Al Qaida again, right?

Barrack Hussein Chamberlain Obama.

(And Saltwn, I'll lay off Obama when people lay off Palin, and send an apology to Bush for all the nasty things they said about him)
