Record 4.4M Britons waiting for non-urgent surgery, gov't figures show

Quote:
Britain's national healthcare system said Thursday a record 4.4 million Britons are waiting for surgery -- a figure one medical leader called "unacceptable."

New statistics posted by the National Health Service also showed a 16 percent increase of patients who'd waited for more than 18 weeks for non-emergency operations, such as hip or knee replacements.

The NHS figures showed 233,000 Britons had waited for more than six months and 37,000 more than nine months.

And it might get worse when Brexit goes through; they are already cut off from some past revenue due to that fiasco.
But it looks like may be more of a pension problem.

Britton's NHS has long been plagued by extended delays and denials of care. They practice Obama's policy of letting bureaucrats decide if you are better off taking pills for the pain instead of having an operation to fix the problem. Ordinary folk can make do with intractable pain from a bad hip or knee but the political elites will not have to wait.

I was hospitalized once while I lived in the UK.
The NHS covered me well, and I was immediately admitted to the hospital upon diagnosis of my health issue.

There was a time when I thought national health would work in this country, but I don't believe that now.

As for Brexit and pensions: I'll receive my survivor's benefits/widow's pension until I die.
I've not heard anything about it via snail mail or otherwise what could happen to it should Brexit go through.
I do know the amount has been varying wildly over the last year.

I don't hear any Americans saying that this is what they want.

It would be interesting to find out how many Americans without health insurance are waiting for surgery that is urgent but can't afford it or aren't even aware of the fact they need it because they can't afford to go to routine medical examinations. I'll bet it's a hell of a lot higher than 4.4M just for urgent surgery.

BTW I'm covered by the VA because of military disabilities and so far it's taken me about 20 weeks for non-urgent surgery I've had and that's using the outsourcing of the surgery because of understaffing of doctors at the VA. I'm in my 3rd year of waiting for hip replacement because it wasn't considered as absolutely necessary when first identified.

This can and should be corrected with any new health care proposals that also need to fix the problem of underpayments by Medicare and Medicaid.

Based upon the corruption, brutality, inhumanity, immorality, dishonesty, and incompetence of the Trump administration the White House is the dirtiest house in America and there's no known cleanser that with remove the stains of the Trump Administration.

Under Obamacare, the only Obama era medical program we can cite, the medical decisions are made by the patient and their doctor and not by bureaucrats. Where did the idea that bureaucrats were making the decisions come from?

Political elites, such as members of Congress, have always had their own medical insurance program that's better than anyone else's.

Here's an interesting idea. Perhaps in addressing health insurance for all Americans we should cover all Americans with a health insurance program that's as good or better than what the political elites are receiving now. Now there's an idea. Treat the American people better than the politicians.

More evidence in support of keeping gov't as far away from my healthcare and insurance decisions as possible.

Under Obamacare the doctor and patients make medical care decisions? You are joking, right?

Before Congress President Obama without a scrap of medical training assured us that Obamacare would mean that sometimes you were better off with pain medication than treatment.

Obamacare specifies some 160 committees to run the program but as long as committee members are not confirmed power devolves to cabinet appointees. That is how Obama's HHS secretary was able to deny a 6 year old girl a lung transplant, effectively a death sentence. Thankfully a Federal judge intervened.

Within the text of the Obamacare bill there are chestnuts like reducing doctor reimbursements from Medicaid for all their patients if they make too many referrals to specialists.

Obamacare was supposed to reduce medical care spending by slashing reimbursement to health care providers by 24%. Yeah sure it's strictly between doctor and patients. As NIH shows these medical programs are run to achieve budgetary goals through denial of care by bureaucrats, not patient outcomes.

Didn't you just sat, one post up, that you had VA healthcare? So that's two programs.

And didn't you just say, one post up, that the wait from your personal experience that elective hip replacement takes over 3 years? And didn't you just say that elective surgery takes 20 weeks?

Is that what you want? I don't.

Drinking the poisoned laced koolaide that President Obama and Jonathan Gruber pushed about the splendor of the ACA to the detriment of the American populace was not a good thing. Another shining example of liberalism in all of it's glory.
