Terrorist have rights???!!!

I have served my country for almost two decades. I have served wherever my government sent me, including Iraq and Afghanistan. I have spent years away from home and family. I’ve had to endure, for extended periods, the most squalid of conditions. I’ve seen things that would be beyond the belief of ordinary people and I’ve lost friends killed in action and seen others dreadfully maimed. But throughout, I have always considered that what we were doing was worth it. But now, I’m not so sure. When I read reports like the following, I really start to think why the fuck we bother!

What should be done with a convicted Iranian terrorist who is about to complete his prison sentence in the UK?
Should he be sent home to face trial for murder or allowed to stay in Britain, claiming benefits for the remainder of his days? We all know the answer. Fowzi Badavi Nejad was the only survivor of the gang that occupied the Iranian embassy in 1980.
After a six day siege, the SAS was sent in to storm the building and free the hostages – an exercise carried out on live television, thereby establishing a mystique about the regiment that it has never lost.

Nejad, who was 22 at the time, was sentenced to life imprisonment and is shortly to be released. He has been assured he will not be deported to his native Iran and will instead stay in Britain at taxpayers' expense. The reason is that under the European Convention on Human Rights, no-one – not even a convicted terrorist - can be removed to a country where they would face ‘inhuman or degrading treatment.’

Letting scum like this stay in the UK is bad enough, but providing free accommodation and state handouts, funded by us the taxpayers, is spitting in the face of every serving man and woman who risk their lives in the fight against terrorism!

Lawyers right NOW are fighting to have scores of Guantanamo detainees released to the streets of the US.

I think they should only be released into liberal enclaves.

I don't understand. Why would he be in danger at home?

I think that terrorists should have basic legal rights. Failure to provide these basic legal rights (due process and such) is a perversion of the American system of justice.

I hate what they have done, but the failure to try them by the same standards as we would any criminal shows that we don't believe in innocent until proven guilty or any of the other legal catch phrases we use.

The problems come in when because of our "legal system" we have to provide "discovery" thus giving away too much information to the other terrorists.

I mean, the fact is the terrorist has served his sentence and Iran is not exactly renowned for the high regard in which it holds civil liberties. What the terrorist did was indeed contemptible, but even people who are universally regarded as scum by the mainstream are entitled to basic rights.
