220,000 condoms off to Myanmar

Quote:
The United Nations will send nearly a quarter of a million condoms into cyclone-hit Myanmar to help needy survivors with no access to contraceptives, a UN official says.

So far, the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) said it had sent 72,800 condoms to survivors struggling to maintain their family planning after the storm hit in early May.

A total of 218,400 condoms would be delivered, UNFPA aid advisor Chaiyos Kunanusont said.

"We don't want regular use of contraception disrupted. An emergency usually damages the health system, so people don't have access to condoms and contraceptives," said Chaiyos.

Flights were also carrying reproductive health kits, which included razors for cutting umbilical cords, clean sheets for delivering babies and enough contraceptive pills and injections to last 3,390 women three months.

The supplies were meant to serve about 300 000 people, Chaiyos said.

Cyclone Nargis left 2.4 million people in desperate need of food, medicine and shelter, the UN estimated, but Chaiyos said not all of the affected people would need family planning supplies.

"Not every single woman is using contraceptives in Myanmar. We're basing this on regular habits," he said.
Good thing they got the importnt stuff covered...No need to concentrate on the small stuff like food, medicine and shelter...

aw I would mess it up. Them little wafers wouldn't fill me up. And the last time I was an alter boy me and two others got in deep trouble with some missing wine. 2 bottles near made me puke and one of the others did. Thats how we got caught.
But the priest made up for it He got his shots in then my mom took her turn.

And every nun had us on the lists of when I look at you, your only thought should be how hign do I jump.
I was glad my dad got a new duty station.
I was glad to become a regular Christian when we moved to the south.
Plus the priest told us the Lord might forgives us with the proper penitences.
Hail Marys that never ended.
And kids today think they have it rough. lol

Those were the good old days, huh, mlurp?
Did you ever have to bring a sleeping bag to confession?

Having only read the thread title, the first thing that popped into my head was this had to be a UN program.

Yep ... we can always count on the UN to prevent people from living. If they're not busy preventing pregnancies, they're busy not feeding and not treating people. I suppose this means we've all gotten together and collectively decided that the best thing for the world is fewer people. The powerful have decided they want to literally eliminate the competition.

While a soldier and the 10-15 years after I could have. lol

No..... Lucky me my mom told me so many lies about results if I did this or that. My sins were very limited while young. Simple stuff except for the 2 bottles of wine. lol

And after being in so many faiths and churchs I just started to study and pray. And gain my own insight.
What helped the most was what I learned in the Nam in L.R.R.P. When I was living in a cave above Boulder, CO. I started using it again. And it was to look back at each day and see (in the Nam we had 3-5 day patrols where we each needed to remember so much to express at debrifing) how I could have done better or acted this way over the way I had choosen. I still do it. With the focus being walking in Honor or as close as I can..

My temper is my weakest now.

I think you are on to something Michael1... The very wealthy don't need the ones who use resources and 6+ billion people I bet they think 3 billion less would be the right thing.
