Default China unveils first aircraft carrier to enter service

I am sure if we pay China back what we owe them they could afford to build a few more of these things.

I just received a lesson on aircraft carriers from my son. I told him I was surprised China has not built one sooner and he informed me in addition to the sky-high cost of them, technology is one of the major factors in preventing nations from building them. Apparently they are difficult to flesh out these days, with the catapult system being one of the most challenging aspects.

We should send a submarine over to tell them congratulations. Just pop up next to her in the middle of the China Sea and say: "Howdy!!"

Thanks to the globalist pieces of **** shipping jobs to China, China is able to afford those now.

I wonder how many American flags they had to sell to get this...

Not trying to take any of the wind off the deck but I told you guys it was coming along with new jet fighters to place on it's deck.

And that sub FS mentioned could meet their new torpedo which travels around 300 mph underwater, if not faster.

Carrier fleets are only as secure as their ASW technology allows them to be. China is still 40-50 years behind us in military tech, a gap which leaves them highly vulnerable to our subs and missiles. In order for thier 300 mph torpedo to be effective, they first have to find our subs and our subs are the best in the world at being hard to find and harder to hit.

I respectly disagree, they with help from Russia have become advanced in weapon techology.

Give it some thought. And ask yourself how they could challenge other blue water Navies at sea if they were not?

Most blue water navies would be challenged, but ours would not be. We have better tech, better personnel and just flat out more than they do. We can strike at them from HERE and be sucessful, they can't come anywhere near that. I'd hazard a guess that any two of our fleets could stop thier entire Navy in pretty short order and that's w/o throwing land-based cruise missles at them. Add that factor in and our Navies would pretty much be going in and mopping up after the carrier and it's primary escorts go "blub, blub, blub".

True to a point. One we won't do a thing right now unless provoked. Second this is but their first one and I am sure they are working on other ships to keep abreast.

Third lets not forget they are working on their subs to and I believe Russia sold them a few.

Yet we can go back and forth. While I think we both brought up some sound ideas.

One thing left out in the AC picture above is Air Craft. Why is that?

Another thing that was left out was the escort fleet. A carrier is only effective while she's above water and without a good escort, carriers don't last long in a battle.
