Incest Couple: Society Has a Problem, Not Us

A father and daughter who had a child together say it is society that has a problem with their incestuous relationship and they are OK with it.

John and Jenny Deaves from South Australia caused controversy after admitting on national television last week that they had a 9-month-old daughter together.

"It's everybody else out there in society that has the problem, we don't have the problem," Jenny Deaves said on Australia's "60 Minutes" Sunday night.

"If you've got something to say, say it for Christ's sake," her father, John, said. "Don't go attacking the kids or the car or anything else, it's not the Australian way."

"We're sure once people get to know us they'll realize that we're not going to pass on any disease to them, we're not going to bite their head off and we're not nasty terrible people," Jenny Deaves said.

The couple spoke Sunday about the death of their first child, Jackson, in 2001.

John Deaves said the death of the four-day-old boy from a heart defect had nothing to do with the genetics of their relationship.

And when the birth defects begin to appear on the scene it will then "become" societies problem..

Maybe all the different human birth defects is from inbreeding when the human breeding stock was more restricted.

Attached is a story about the results of incest.
Forbidden Fruit, page 1 - News - Phoenix New Times - Phoenix New Times
A disease that "There is no cure for the disease (fumarase deficiency), which impedes the body's ability to process food at the cellular level." ....
"If you look in the literature, you won't find another dozen cases in the world that have been reported," says Tarby.
And yet, in this one area which has a history of incest, you will find it common in the community. Treating the kids who have the disease is done at the tax-payers expense!

Quite frankly, I find it disgusting on one level (amongst many) because the father is "taking advantage" of his daughter.
The father should raise and protect the daughter, encouraging healthy interaction with the world. Instead, he has conveniently "groomed" her for a life whereby she has sex with him.

How can she make any sort of independent consent when she has been groomed for such a conclusion?
I guess my point is that the daughter never really had any chance to formulate a response of "no" to the idea of "marrying" her father.
