Outrage as Egypt plans 'farewell intercourse law' so husbands can have sex with DEAD wives up to six hours after their death

Egyptian husbands will soon be legally allowed to have sex with their dead wives - for up to six hours after their death.

The controversial new law is part of a raft of measures being introduced by the Islamist-dominated parliament.

It will also see the minimum age of marriage lowered to 14 and the ridding of women's rights of getting education and employment.

Egypt's National Council for Women is campaigning against the changes, saying that 'marginalising and undermining the status of women would negatively affect the country's human development'.

Dr Mervat al-Talawi, head of the NCW, wrote to the Egyptian People’s Assembly Speaker Dr Saad al-Katatni addressing her concerns.

Egyptian journalist Amro Abdul Samea reported in the al-Ahram newspaper that Talawi complained about the legislations which are being introduced under 'alleged religious interpretations'.

While disgusting, I see no issue letting men have sex with the dead bodies of their wives. It's not like it hurts anything. /shrug

Also, zero issue with the age of consent being 14. That's as it should be.

Obviously the education and employment thing is retarded and detrimental. But, it is THEIR country to run as they see fit.

On the actual issue, all those items are part of the same thing.

No deprivation of a women is immoral
Marry them off early before they can make sense of the world.
Deprive them of education
Don't let them work

It's saying women are property to control and make use of without letting pesky things like moral obligation get in the way - like cattle. Hell...it might even be worse. I don't know, did Muhammed say it was OK to screw cows after they were dead too?

No problem with necrophilia (like you said, the dead don't give a @#$%); no problem with age of consent being 14 (like you said, that's as it should be).

My concern is that, in countries where women don't have equal rights, they don't actually have the opportunity to "consent" to or decline anything.
But my concern extends to all women; raising the age of marriage won't change anything. They are all infantalized by their patriarchal society. Under the circumstances, a forty year old woman would be no more or less able to consent than a fourteen year old.

I can't think of any valid reason other than disease prevention, and if the time limit is 6 hours after death, that shouldn't be an issue.
I mean, who the hell wants to kiss a corpse? Gross.
But people do it all the time in our society.
No reason to pass a law against it.
If that's their way of saying goodbye and gaining some closure, then whatever.
The corpse doesn't care.
