Default North Korea exports banned nuclear technology

It should probably come as no surprise that Dear Leader's Hermit Kingdom is exporting banned nuclear technology.

From The Canadian Press:

"A report by U.N. experts saying North Korea is exporting banned nuclear and missile technology to Iran, Syria and Myanmar has been sent to the Security Council after China dropped its objections, U.N. diplomats said Wednesday.

"The findings by the seven-member panel monitoring the implementation of sanctions against North Korea were first reported by The Associated Press in May.

"The panel's report was submitted to the Security Council committee monitoring sanctions against Pyongyang in early May but China, a close ally of North Korea, blocked its transmission to the full 15-member council, diplomats said, speaking on condition of anonymity because consultations have been private.

"The experts said North Korea is exporting nuclear and ballistic missile technology and using multiple intermediaries, shell companies and overseas criminal networks to circumvent U.N. sanctions. It called for further study of these suspected activities and urged all countries to try to prevent them."

Update!
Scientist: NKorea has 'stunning' new nuke facility
Quote:
SEOUL, South Korea – North Korea's claim of a new, highly sophisticated uranium enrichment facility could be a ploy to win concessions in nuclear talks or an attempt to bolster leader Kim Jong Il's apparent heir.

But whatever the reason for the revelation, which a seasoned American nuclear scientist called "stunning," it provides a new set of worries for the Obama administration, which is sending its special envoy on North Korea for talks with officials in South Korea, Japan and China this week.
Quote:
The scientist, Siegfried Hecker, said in a report posted Saturday that he was taken during a recent trip to the North's main Yongbyon atomic complex to a small industrial-scale uranium enrichment facility. It had 2,000 recently completed centrifuges, he said, and the North told him it was producing low-enriched uranium meant for a new reactor.

Hecker, a former director of the U.S. Los Alamos Nuclear Laboratory who is regularly given rare glimpses of the North's secretive nuclear program, said the program had been built in secret and with remarkable speed.

Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, said uranium enrichment activities would violate U.N. resolutions and agreements by North Korea over its nuclear program.

"From my perspective, it's North Korea continuing on a path which is destabilizing for the region. It confirms or validates the concern we've had for years about their enriching uranium," Mullen, the top U.S. military officer, said on CNN's "State of the Union."

So maybe they are calling our bluff?
This is disturbing news to say the least.

Calling what bluff? Do the current Congress or President have the reproductive glands to even offer a credible bluff?

NO! A "threat" from the current regime is about as intimidating as one from an elderly Pacifist Nun suffering from senile dementia and armed with a piece of soft cheese.

As those of us on the Right get so tired of explaining to supposed adults, weakness invites aggression.

" "The only hope" for dealing with the North's nuclear program "appears to be engagement," he [Hecker] wrote, calling a military attack "out of the question" and more sanctions "likewise a dead end."

Many questions are still unanswered about North Korea's nuclear program, Hecker wrote, including whether the North is really pursuing nuclear electricity, whether it's abandoning plutonium production, how it obtained such sophisticated centrifuge technology, and why it's revealing the facilities now.

"One thing is certain," he said. "These revelations will cause a political firestorm." "
So what's the plan then, Mr Smarty Pants?

Why is a a military attack 'out of the question'?

Only Moderns have thought this way, and they brought warfare to dizzying new heights of persistence and lethality.

War and warfare are precisely how countries solve intractable problems. The alternatives tend to involve death, slavery, oppression, genocide, starvation, the regression of civilization, the loss of culture and the advancement of oppression.

War is not, contrary to popular and effete thinking the worst of all possible outcomes.

Because South Korea (one of our allies) has begged us that the minute we start anything with North Korea they are basically toast due to the weapons directly pointed at them in close (touching) proximity.

Nk got most of their present technology from clinton. He bought them off and they promised not to do anything but use it for electricity and peaceful purposes. They lied. China has also aided them in developing the technology and with their rocket development. The now sell fusion material and rockets throughout the world. They also have the biggest counterfeit money operation in the world. They can do all this because China has their back. yeah SK is worried, but its China that is keeping everyone from taking any real action. If they can ever get China to say okay we'll stay out of it, NK is toast.
