Wood gasification

Anybody here ever used or built a wood gasifier? I have built methane generators, but not a gasifier. Looking at doing this, but if anybody has any experience with or tips for a build, would be greatly appreciated.

Now that I have heard from the peanut gallery, does anyone have anything constructive to add?

I have a Popular Mechanics from in the early 50's (1955 I think) that has an extensive article on units fabricated for running trucks. The article was written about an Asian country will little petrol who during the war converted trucks to run on wood gas.. It is at my Parents house, I will look for a date.

On TV there is a show on History channels Mountain Men, one named Ustis put a kit on a small pickup, a kit he bought or built.. Might check that one out. It is an interesting idea, that has been used with it sounds like good success.
