“Just coming! Just coming!”

Knew that he couldn’t displease the guy, the waiter went downstairs swiftly.

The male traveler didn’t see what else the staff in the guy’s hand was, but he felt some unease. His nails had dig into the table, and kept a close watch on the guy, “Who, the ****, are you?”

The skullcap hurried to dig the rice into his (her) mouth. He (she) didn’t put the bowl down until he (she) ate up the last grains of rice in the bowl. Wiped his (her) mouth with the sleeve, he (she) frown and started to scold the male traveler, “You run away, why, just because you’re fat? You make me have been traveling for a few days! A warm meal can’t have I … ”

“Who the hell are you?” The male traveler asked, a tremble in his voice.

The skullcap slapped the staff in his (her) hand on the table, a heavy copper token with a clear character engraved on it, that’s “captor”.

“The Six Doors of the Capital, and someone entrusted me to take something to you.” The skullcap stretched his (her) hand into his (her) clothes to feel for something and then he (she) pulled a roll of paper out to the male travelers.

As soon as the male traveler spread the paper roll, his countenance seemed to freeze. It’s an order for arrest, on which it’s his icon that was. Cao Kun, male, 42 …

The skullcap stretched forward to compare the icon with him in person, nodding to say, “Very resembling you! Watching from what you look like, seems that the tip of your nose may not grow fine. Not enough full and around, don’t you think so?”

When they were talking, the madam sitting by them had known that the kiss of death had come. When she’s moving aside slowly with trembling steps, the finger of her right hand hurt but what she only saw was the indistinct shapes of the chopsticks that stayed out of the vision. So she lowered her head to see and found that her little finger had been clamped motionless in the guy’s chopsticks.

“Mrs. Qi and the married daughter of Qiu clan, or nowadays I should call you Mrs. Cao and the married daughter of Qiu clan?” The skullcap said, a shadow of a smile appearing on his (her) face.

Mrs. Qi struggled to get free, however, the bamboo chopsticks, like an iron clamp, clamped her finger so tightly.

“Sit down!” said the skullcap, the hand that held the chopsticks pressing her litter finger backwards.

Couldn’t bear pained, Mrs. Qi had to sit down, feeling dejected.

“So venomous you two are. Only eloping doesn’t matter, but you murdered your own maid. You cut her head, and changed her dress with Mrs. Qi’s. And then you shifted the headless corpse into the home of Mr. Qi, attempting to make a false charge against him to murder his wife.” The skullcap shook his (her) head and continued, “Anyhow he’s your husband. Even though you fall in love with someone else, should you not be so evil.”

Apparently, the angry of Mrs. Qi didn’t yet be appeased, “Qi Xiu Cheng’s not dead yet?”

“The shape of the maid resembled yours, however, she’s unmarried, with some subtle and important differences between a maiden and a married woman. You thought that I couldn’t notice?” snorting, suspired the skullcap.

Cao Kun, the male traveler, drew out a number of notes from his gown with his trembling hand, some of which were 20 Liang (a kind of monetary unit), and the other of which 50 Liang. And then he put the notes on the table slowly.

“The values of the notes exceed 10 times as much as that of the bounties. So, officer, I ask you the favor, please let two of us, a couples, off.”

Beholding the pack of notes, the eyes of the skullcap start brightening up. He (She) past the meal and fetched the notes to count. Even twice he (she) counted them. “Three hundred and twenty Liang!” said he (she) jovially.

“Yes, yes. They’re showing my respect. Officer, please take them in.”

“How do you know that my salary is not enough?” The skullcap murmured to himself (herself), “It’s another time to pay my little brother’s tuition fee. Last month I bought a basket of coal to his teacher so that nothing left in my pocket at this time.”

A small hope rose in the male traveler’s heart, but all of a sudden, the skullcap changed his (her) countenance to a depressing expression.

“What I worry about is that I would lost my job as soon as the thing that I would do has been spread. I can’t murder both of you just because of the money, can I?”

Having been heard the words, the couples shocked at the same time and their faces lost their colors.

The skullcap still cocked his (her) head and seriously reconsidered the possibility to do the killing the couples. Just heard that he (she) hesitated, “… can I?”

After seeing there had no any compromises, Cao Kun, who’s sitting by the window, stopped his hesitation, stood up and climbed over the rail, standing on the eave. Just saw he strode forward a few steps and had been ready to jump down.

“Honey!” Mrs. Qi shouted up anxiously when she saw Cao Kun escaped by oneself, but he had jumped from the eave.

The skullcap seemed not to be worried and continued to enjoy his (her) meals. Saw her losing mind, the skullcap shook his (her) head saying, “You framed up your husband to elope with him, however, the present situation unveil that just so-so the affection he can afford you.”

Only sat Mrs. Qi, just like a statue, being silent.

At that instant, there were the footsteps on the stairs. They’re not from the waiter but a big young man, grasping Cao Kun who walked lamely. We didn’t know whether he sprained his feet or broke his legs.

“I said Officer Xia, next time when you’re gonna throw someone from the second floor, please remember to say something in advance. OK?” said the big young man petulantly.

“This time it’s not me. Really. It’s himself that jumped.” the skullcap pointed to the dishes with his (her) chopsticks, “You’re hungry? Come here to have them!”

Just in time the waiter entered with six bowls of rice, staggering as he moved. The skullcap gave two to the big guy, and left two for himself (herself).

And then he (she) put a bowl in front of each of the couples. When he (she) found that they didn't move the chopsticks, urged: "Hurry to eat! It'll be two days from here to the capital. If you don't eat here, then there would be nothing we could do when you clamour that you're hungry."

Cao Kun cried out of pain, but what Mrs. Qi did was only picked up her bowls to have her meal, ignoring him.

"In order to cook the long-tailed anchovy ... you must scrap its scales off using a sharp knife first, and then get out the fishbones." The big young man put a slice of fish meat into his mouth, chewing,

"They must stew the fish in ham soup, chicken soup, and bamboo shoot soup. Delicious, though, these soups have taken away the original flavour of the fish. In fact, the own flavour of the anchovy has been very delicious, and the only thing that the cook should do was soaking it in the mulse, putting the pure soy sause into it, steaming it at the end stage."

During his speaking, the skullcap had eaten more dishes, saying with a full mouth, "I said you're supposed to be a cook rather than a captor."

"That's my ideal, but my father ..." The big young man sighed, picking up a slice of tofu, sighing again, "They should soak the tofu in the well water three times, only by which the smell of the soybean can be got rid of,
