Recut the stems every other day, and change the water (don't just add to it) daily using room temperature water.
I've heard both sugar and asprin, but since I don't get cut flowers (I prefer living things) for the most part, I don't recall which works best.

Great, I have Aspirin. The flowers she bought me started to die a couple of days ago, so that is pretty good really - just over 3 weeks. Flowers usually come with a sachet of liquid or powder that makes the water more nutritious for them, but of course topping up the water every few days as the level goes down does dilute the water. Thanks for that tip.
