In the last several months I've read Treasure Island, Born to Run, Body Mind Soul, The Hunger Games, Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, A Feast for Crows, The Wolf Gift, Blood Canticle, and I'm working on Blood and Gold right now.

In between those I've been working on The Three Musketeers but I'm having difficulty getting through it. Dunno if it's just the translation or not, but it's a difficult read for some reason.

I finally broke down and read Hunger Games. Damn good read, eh? Have you read the other two?

I have not read the other two yet. I don't have them and I don't have the last Song of Ice and Fire book either. (Dance with Dragons) It's just a money issue right now. But I'll get them all for myself probably after xmas.

And yes, it was a damn good read. Too short, IMO, though. I honestly didn't expect to like it and was pleasantly surprised.

You know what's good in the vein of what you seem to like to read, and you can get the whole trilogy from most libraries? The 'His Dark Materials' trilogy by Philip Pullman. The main girl rocks, and there's an anti-religion element that might interest you.

On Three Musketeers, I hear ya. In general I don't get the popularity of those French classics. Les Mis puts me to sleep.

Hmm... I'll have to check that out. Thank you!

Well, I know the story fairly well, but I never actually read the full novel. The translation bounces between English and French and it's just really annoying to me. I mean, the French that's spattered in there isn't that difficult to translate since (once upon a time) I knew French fairly well, but still I must mentally translate it. That and the cadence to the writing is just erratic, AND I see their attempts at humor but I just don't find them funny in the way it's written. I don't get the colloquialisms and slang and whatnot and I find myself having to re-read paragraphs so that I'm sure I understand what they just said. That gets tiresome after awhile. I think I'm just going to put it back on the shelf because it's just not enjoyable for me to read right now. Which is weird, because the first part of it WAS enjoyable to read, then it was like someone else starting writing or translating it and then it was just not enjoyable anymore.

I am just finishing 50 Shades of Grey, which I am disappointed with. It is tedious and the main female character is such an idiot! My next book is this one which I am looking forward to reading.

Went to Barnes and Noble today and picked up a dozen books, so I should be set for a few months.

Yeah, I went a little nuts.

I bought:

Killing Kennedy - Bill O'Reilly (pre-order)
Severe Clear - Stuart Woods
Robopocalypse - Daniel H. Wilson
No Easy Day - Mark Owen
Sutton - J.R. Moehringer
The Price of Politics - Bob Woodward
About Time: Cosmology and Culture at the Twilight of the Big Bang - Adam Frank
Waging Heavy Peace - Neil Young
Conquest: How Societies Overwhelm Others - David Day
The Time Keeper - Mitch Albom
Mugged - Ann Coulter
This is Improbable: Cheese String Theory, Magnetic Chickens and Other WTF Research - Marc Abrahams

Think I will check out 'The Time Keeper' first. Mitch Albom is the author that wrote 'Tuesdays With Morrie' and 'The Five People You Meet In Heaven.' This one looks extremely interesting.

Post here when you finish Mugged Comet. I'm curious.

I live in a commie district. We can't get the good stuff from the local bookshops, and I don't shop online. I could pirate it I guess, but I'm trying to quit. Maybe I'll freak out the girl with the hairy armpits at the bookshop, and order it if you tell me it's good.

I'm going to start reading something called The Hypnotist tomorrow. The way it's packaged reminds me of the Girl with the Dragon tattoo. I liked that Lizbeth Salander series.

Barnes and Noble must have fallen in love with you.......

I'm kind of ashamed, I haven't picked up a book in a month and I'm going into my busy time of year now so I don't see me reading much except for a newspaper in the near future.
