I am glad to see the readership hasn't dropped off that much.. . As when it does slows down I will stop bumbing any of the 3 threads in this series forward.
My aim was always to post for our readers. Early on I noticed like all forums there wasn't any items just for the guest readers.

I set out to change that with stickies, then threads like these 3 on our war, back then it was war's. And that had to include Pakistan as they were the big player.

I knew Iran had a hand in the game, yet never found any readable info to add them into the series. So till the next bump, enjoy

.Gunmen kill 18 in southwest Pakistan: officials

AFP – 10 hrs ago. 7 July 2012 ...........................

Unidentified gunmen in southwest Pakistan killed 18 people late Friday who were trying to illegally cross into neighboring Iran in three vehicles, officials said.

"Motorcycle riding gunmen stopped their vehicles and forced them to come out with their hands up. 18 people have been killed and two were injured," Mohammad Aslam Tarin, a senior government official told AFP.

The incident took place in the far-flung Kechh district, some 1250 kilometres (780 miles) southwest of Quetta, the main town of of Pakistan's insurgency hit Baluchistan province, close to the Iranian border.

"We have started investigating but the motive of the attack is still unclear," Tarin said, adding that rescue teams have been sent to the area to recover the dead bodies.

Gunmen managed to flee the scene, he added.

"These 20 people were trying to cross the border and wanted to enter Iran," he said.

A tribal police official in the area confirmed the incident and death toll. Though no group has yet claimed responsibility, such attacks are usually blamed on Baluch nationalist groups fighting for a greater provincial autonomy.

Hundreds of civilians have been killed since Baluch rebels rose up in 2004 against the federal Pakistani government, demanding political autonomy and a greater share of profits from the resources in the region.

The province is also a hotbed of Islamist militancy and sectarian violence between majority Sunni and minority Shiite Muslim communities.

..Bureaucracy, security slow NATO Pakistan supplies

By REBECCA SANTANA | Associated Press – 25 mins ago... 11 July 2012 .....

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Pakistani officials say only a handful of trucks carrying shipments to troops in Afghanistan have crossed the Pakistani border, a week after the country reopened U.S. and NATO supply lines.

Pakistan reopened the supply lines July 3, ending a 7-month closure sparked by American airstrikes that killed 24 Pakistani border guards.

Two trucks passed through the Chaman border crossing last Thursday, but bureaucracy and security concerns have kept more trucks from crossing.

A Pakistani customs official said Wednesday that no other trucks have crossed there.

Chaman is one of two border crossings used to transport NATO supplies.

An official in northern Pakistan said no trucks have crossed at Torkham, the second crossing. Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.

I found this while searching for news on China. This is because this and past govt., made out they dis-liked the USA. And some really do in govt., and the Military. But this large un-educated population for the most part do HATE America...
And if I had a say I would talk to India and this location on the face of the eath along with Iran would be a pile of brunt rubble, as these people are a waste of human life as are the insurgents.

Now I have to ask for forgiveness and peace of mind.

.New Pakistan protest at reopening of NATO supply routes

AFP – 5 hrs ago. 16 July 2012 ............................................

Thousands of people gathered at a park in northwest Pakistan Monday for a protest at the reopening of NATO supply routes into Afghanistan, which will culminate in a march the following day.

The protesters will spend the night at the park in the city of Peshawar near a highway used by NATO trucks supplying foreign forces in Afghanistan, as part of the demonstration organised by hardline Islamist group Jamaat-e-Islami (JI).

Between 5,000 and 8,000 party activists had reached the site by the evening, according to police, and the protesters would on Tuesday march towards the town of Jamrud in Khyber tribal district, a key supply route.

Pakistan reopened overland routes to NATO convoys crossing into neighbouring Afghanistan on July 3 after closing them in protest at a US air raid that killed 24 Pakistani soldiers in November.

"Supplying (NATO troops) with goods using Pakistani routes is like arming the enemy," Qazi Hussain Ahmad, a senior JI member told the gathering.

"NATO are killing innocent Muslims in Afghanistan."

A JI spokesman said he expected 50,000 protesters at Tuesday's march.

The protest came after thousands of Pakistani Islamists at the weekend rallied at the southwestern border post of Chaman, vowing to stop NATO supplies into Afghanistan.

The protesters had embarked on a 120-kilometre (74-mile) journey from the southwestern city of Quetta on Saturday and reached the town of Chaman late Sunday where they held the rally.

The protesters shouted "Death to America," "No to NATO supply" and "Long Live Mullah Omar" in reference to the Afghan Taliban leader in hiding.

On Sunday, Maulana Samiul Haq, chairman of the Defence of Pakistan group which is a coalition of organisations protesting the reopening of NATO supply routes, said the movement would continue its protests until the convoys stop.

JI is part of the group.

NATO traffic across the border has so far been minimal, with only a few trucks having crossed into Afghanistan since the routes were reopened.

Officials at the port city of Karachi said a dispute about the payment of damages for thousands of containers blockaded for seven months, which has led to sluggish overland supplies, could be resolved this week.

.Pakistan to requisition bin Laden plot

AFP – 3 hrs ago. 20 July 2012 ..............................

Pakistan has moved to requisition the land on which Al-Qaeda mastermind Osama bin Laden spent his final years, an official said Friday.

After bin Laden was killed by US troops in May 2011, hundreds of people visited the compound which the authorities destroyed in February, fearing it could become a shrine to Al-Qaeda acolytes.

Authorities in northwestern province Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have now published notices in newspapers asking for any objections to the land being declared government property.

It was not immediately clear what the government intends to do with the plot in the town of Abbottabad, 50 kilometres (30 miles) from the capital, where bin Laden was shot dead in a three-storey building by US Navy SEALs.

"It has been advertised in newspapers that anyone objecting to the transfer of land should contact the DRO (district revenue officer) within 15 days," Mohammad Mushtaq, an official in the revenue's Abbottabad branch, told AFP on Friday.

"In case of no objection the property will be transferred and declared government property," he added. Not had yet been in contact, he said.

After killing him in Pakistan, US troops buried bin Laden's body at sea, determined that no grave act as a memorial to the mastermind of the September 11 attacks.

According to the revenue office, the land was bought by Mohammad Arshad, a resident of the northwestern town of Charsadda killed with bin Laden in the 2011 raid.

One of the terror chief's wives, who was captured after the raid, told investigators she had lived with her husband there since 2006.

Pakistani warplanes at the Chaklala …

Pakistani fighter jets bombarded militant hideouts in the country's restive tribal northwest on Sunday, killing more than 10 people, security officials said.

Yet they won't list any women or children they killed doing their low tech bombing.

The air offensive was carried out in different areas of Upper Orakzai tribal region, where the military has been battling Taliban and Al-Qaeda-linked insurgents.

And where children & women, men to old to do much live, but because of this area they count as insurgents.

One can't hit 4 populated areas like these without harming the innocent, even we do get some innocent people when we do things like this in tight living spaces.

"More than 10 militants were killed and four hideouts were destroyed when Pakistani jets shelled rebel positions in Zakhtan, Dabori and Ghiljo areas," a spokesman for the paramilitary Frontier Corps (FC) told AFP.

Orakzai is one of the seven semi-autonomous tribal regions, which Washington calls the most dangerous place in the world. These regions near the Afghan border are rife with homegrown insurgents and are strongholds of Taliban and Al-Qaeda operatives.

Gee I am sorry for telling the truth, sense they can read this as it is okey to kill everyone.

A local intelligence official confirmed the strikes and the killings, but there was no way of independently ascertaining the death toll as the area is off-limits to journalists.

Take about plain stupid! If you have local intelligence in there why is a journalist needed to tell whom was killed or how much damaged was really done.

And the comments are about as stupid as this messed up govt.

.Pakistan, US intelligence chiefs to meet August 1-3

AFP – 1 hr 56 mins ago. 28 July 2012 ......................

The head of Pakistan's premier intelligence agency will hold talks in Washington on August 1-3 with his CIA counterpart, a military statement said, with drone strikes expected to be a major issue.

It is the first time in a year that the chief of the Pakistan military's powerful ISI will make the trip, signalling a thaw in relations after US troops found and killed Osama bin Laden in Pakistan in May 2011.

Man these people don't heal very fast. Look at what we have put up with dealing with them?

Lieutenant General Zaheer ul-Islam, who was appointed in March, "will visit USA from 1st to 3rd August. This will be a service-to-service bilateral visit," the statement said.

"He will meet his counterpart General David Petraeus, director CIA."

The short statement gave no other details, but a senior Pakistani security official earlier told AFP that the pair would discuss counter-terror cooperation and intelligence sharing.

Islam would also demand an end to US drone attacks against the Taliban and Al-Qaeda, and again ask for the means for Pakistan to carry out the attacks instead, the security official said.

It had been expected that Islam would visit the US in late July. It was not immediately clear why that trip did not happen.

Islamabad has been increasingly vocal in its public opposition to the drones. Pakistan's leaders had quietly approved initially but now say they are a violation of sovereignty and insist they fan anti-US sentiment.

Yet they want to control them and stike whom?

US officials are understood to believe the attacks too important to give up, although the number declined as relations between the nominal allies plunged to their lowest in a decade.

But on July 3 Islamabad agreed to end a seven-month blockade on NATO supplies travelling overland to Afghanistan after the United States apologised for the deaths of 24 Pakistani soldiers in botched air strikes last November.

The resumption of NATO traffic has been temporarily suspended over fears of Islamist attacks.

So why these talks about the drones at all, again we got nothing.

Well now new target for the enemies of both sides. Why the Pakistan Army cannot offer any protection to these convoys which the drivers (two to a big truck) who are their own citizens is beyond me.

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Pakistan and the U.S. say they have signed an agreement regulating the shipment of American troop supplies to and from Afghanistan.

The deal signed Tuesday codified a largely informal arrangement that has allowed the U.S. to contract trucks to ship goods destined for the Afghan war through Pakistan over the past decade.

Pakistan pushed for a written pact in drawn-out negotiations that led to the supply line's reopening in early July following a seven-month blockade. Islamabad cut the route in retaliation for American airstrikes that killed 24 Pakistani soldiers on the Afghan border.

Pakistan state television and the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad confirmed the signing of the agreement.

.Pakistan jails officers for links to banned group

AFP – 2 hrs 12 mins ago. 3 August 2012 ..................

Pakistan has jailed five military officers, convicting them of links to a banned Muslim political group at a court martial, the army said Friday.

It is the first time that senior army officers have been convicted and jailed over associations with banned organisations in the country on the frontline of the US-led war on Al-Qaeda and fighting its own Taliban insurgency.

The army did not name the organisation in a statement announcing the sentences, but officials have in the past identified it as Hizb ut-Tahrir.

The group, which is headquartered Britain, does not outwardly advocate violence, but has been accused of links to violent extremist groups.

The army said the most senior officer to be convicted, Brigadier Ali Khan, had been sentenced to five years' rigorous imprisonment.

The other four, all ranked major, were sentenced to three years, two years, and two each to one year and six months, the military said.

The army said the convicts have the right to appeal, but provided no further details.

Pakistani policemen escort arrested …

Pakistani police said on Saturday they had arrested five Taliban militants who were planning "terror attacks" in the central city of Multan and other towns in the region.

"The terrorists belonging to Noor Gul group of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were arrested on an intelligence tip off," city police chief Aamer Zulfikar told reporters.

The 'Noor Gul' group has not been heard of previously, and Zulfikar did not say where or when the arrests were made.

"They were planning to carry out terrorist activities on the eve of the martyrdom anniversary of Hazarat Ali, the fourth caliph of Islam, falling next week," he said.

He added that the group was active in the southern part of the Punjab province, and had planned to target other towns and cities in the region.

The police also seized heavy weapons and ammunition including pistols and assault rifles from the militants.

Pakistan has battled homegrown insurgents including Taliban in the tribal belt for years but has resisted US pressure to do more to eliminate havens used by insurgents fighting the Americans in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, six people were killed in an explosion triggered in fireworks material stored in a house in Multan on Saturday.

Zulfikar said several nearby buildings were damaged in the blast, which also wounded at least 10 people.

"We are trying to ascertain what triggered the explosion in the factory," he said.
