I don't think being on his Secret Service (S.S.?) team would be a good career right now. I am surprised that he hasn't receivedmore threats. Chances are he has, but his spin team won't release the data.

It's about some people on the right acting irresponsible. Obama says the police acted "stupidly", and people claim it could have caused riots. But then you have DOZENS of pundits saying that he's a socialist, that he pals around with terrorists, talking about how people think he's the anti-Christ, how he's a secret Muslim, how he's not even a natural born American... And FOR THAT you guys want to pretend that it doesn't have any impact... ![]() Let's quote some of saltwn's thread that was ignored, shall we? Quote:
The right paints Obama with some of the more grotesque slurs around, and they use that political advantage... ... but noting that such smears have consequences is obviously just not rational... ... unless it's Obama calling the police "stupid". Cause "stupid" is what causes riots... Unbe-freakin-lievable!

"The right paints Obama with some of the more grotesque slurs around, and they use that political advantage...
Unbe-freakin-lievable!" No more than the lefties did while Bush was in office, and you're right, UN-FRIGGIN-BELIEVABLE! I bet your indignation when Bush was in office wasn't at the left who called him a NAZI, but at the right for getting mad about it!

The left even wrote books about assissinating Bush and the Washington Post instead of being indignant reviewed the damn thing.
No f66, the left has a double standard and you prove that every day on this board. From the Washington Post, 2004 By Linton Weeks Washington Post Staff Writer Tuesday, June 29, 2004; Page C01 In Nicholson Baker's new novella, "Checkpoint," a man sits in a Washington hotel room with a friend and talks about assassinating President Bush. It's a work of the imagination and no attempts on the president's life are actually made, but the novel is likely to be incendiary, as with Michael Moore's documentary, "Fahrenheit 9/11." Flush with the headline-generating success of "My Life," by Bill Clinton, Alfred A. Knopf is planning to publish Baker's work Aug. 24, on the eve of the Republican National Convention. "Checkpoint" is 115 pages long and will sell for $18. In the book, two men -- Ben and Jay -- meet at the fictional Adele Hotel and Suites in Washington. It is midday. They eat a bag of bagel chips and order lunch from room service. They talk into a tape recorder. Ben: Obviously you have something on your mind. Jay: That's true. Ben: You could begin with that. Jay: Okay. Uh. I'm going to -- okay. I'll just say it. Um. Ben: What is it? Jay: I'm going to assassinate the president. Though it is against the law to threaten the president in real life, a work of fiction is usually protected by the First Amendment. "Under a big 1968 Supreme Court precedent, Brandenburg v. Ohio, speaking of assassinating the president cannot be forbidden or punished unless the speaker's purpose is to provoke an assassination attempt and that is likely to be the effect," says legal scholar Stuart Taylor Jr. of the National Journal. "It's quite possible in the wake of more recent developments -- 9/11 especially -- the court might modify that in some kinds of cases. But it's almost inconceivable that the court would allow punishment of a novelist for what one of his characters says about killing the president." "Without seeing the work," says Charles Bopp, a spokesman for the Secret Service, "a determination can't be made at this time." http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...2004Jun28.html

What sticks out is that the Secret Service does not discuss such issues with the media and the hit piece used as a cite and then trying to say the Republicans are doing it. Obama is extremely divisive, no surprise threats are up if in fact they are. |

And certainly tried to get him and his administration thrown in prisons over trumped up charges.

I predicted it in my very opening statement... foundit66: "The Republicans OPENLY ACTING VILELY NOW is just a reflection of the Democrat fringe movement that happened under Bush..." The moral equivalence at its worst... Quote:
You love to THINK you know what other people's opinions are, WHILE REFUSING TO LISTEN to what their actual opinion is. I would take your bet and take your money, but your mind would refuse to acknowledge you were wrong. foundit66: But at the same time, I still get pissed whenever I hear somebody call Bush a nazi cause he IS NOT a nazi... http://www.politicalwrinkles.com/pol...html#post44918 I challenge you to name ANY member of this board who thinks "Bush is a nazi" is an intelligent association. You can't. You'll be happy to ALLEGE, but you'll be wrong. But as for Obama's smears, there are MULTIPLE people here who freely call him a "socialist". And you guys think it's all okay, refusing to recognize that it VASTLY OUTNUMBERS the people who pulled similar crap with Bush. Quote:
Cause you see me, ASSUME MY OPINION, and then based on what you make up in your mind you justify your position off of things I never said? You mention a "novella". And at the very end, it mentions the Secret Service was at least aware at that stage. GOOD! I hope they busted his balls hard on that. That kind of crud is NOT acceptable. Democrat or Republican. But again, you continue in your partisan haze assuming I said something that justifies your own pretense that I am as partisan as you...

did I say any member of this board? No, I said lefties, meaning in general. You wish to paint yourself as representative of the left but your not. But you do like to play the victim anyway.
I'm sorry about the bet though, you would lose. As has been pointed out several time at how wrong you have been and then refused to accept the facts and turned around with your circular arguments, it was laughable and sad at the same time. But continue to delute yourself.
