Default Military takes on the Government after WWII ends

Wow, this is some interesting history that we were never taught.

According to U.S. history, if tens of thousands of military service members commit mutiny en masse, they won’t be punished at all. In fact, the president just might capitulate to their demands.

The story began just after the war concluded with Japan’s surrender in August 1945. That same month, threatened with left-wing independence movements in its far-flung overseas territories and across Asia, the U.S. government decided that rather than fully demobilize the military, it would maintain a troop force of 2.5 million.

That did not go over well with the soldiers’ families,

That's amazing. And great. I'd never heard about that before ethier.

But I have to mention that I have asked military guys and gals if they would... or what would it take for them to do the same kind of thing.

Specifically speaking several presidential orders into foreign countries have been clearly unconstitutional. If the military refused to obey , its my belief , that they're be within the law since the constitutional law is above CiC orders. Illegal orders do NOT have to be obeyed.

The actions into Iraq and Libya even more so are 2 examples. Not to mention random drone strikes on civilians and U S Citizens.

Assuming the article from the very Leftist reporter is essentially correct it's worth noting that after WW II the USSR was aggressively expanding its territory and influence as well as consolidating it's control over European and Asian countries ceded to Stalin by the allies. In addition there was an active guerilla warfare movement in Germany and legitimate concerns about Japanese militants doing the same. Of course to the veteran of Mother Jones and WaPo hate America propaganda the US is always the great imperialist power oppressing not just the sacred Left wing revolutions of the world but enslaving its citizen soldiers as well.

“Our government has kept us in a perpetual state of fear-kept us in a continuous stampede of patriotic fervor-with the cry of grave national emergency. Always there has been some terrible evil at home or some monstrous foreign power that was going to gobble us up if we did not blindly rally behind it ...”
General Douglas MacArthur 1957

Or if we don't throw U.S. military at every problem or potential problem around the world, and police the world... as if there's NO WAY for the U.S. to actually have a real 'peace time'.

...Winston could not definitely remember a time when his country had not been at war...
