Sure looks like China has a ship-mounted railgun

Devin Coldewey, TechCrunch•February 2, 2018

Ever since Eraser, everyone wants a railgun. Turns out China is no exception. Some photos posted by Dafeng Cao, a Twitter user who keeps close tabs on Chinese military developments, show a ship-mounted gun that could very well be the country's very own homegrown electromagnetically propelled mass driver.

Railguns, or coil guns, accelerate solid metal projectiles using ultra-strong electromagnets, firing them well above speeds achieved by conventional ballistic methods. We're talking Mach 6 here. The U.S. has been working on them for years, and has produced some very cool test videos, but I haven't heard about any of them being mounted on ships.

several years ago I heard of one mounted on a US navy ship as a test.
not sure it was a legit report though.

Talked about hurling projectiles as big as Volkswagens for crazy distances.
All supposedly very "experimental"

I do have a question about the NAVY video of the "projectile"
the Admiral says that the Projectile is going Mach7 . OK cool. AMAZING.
But um, what camera man or camera is able to near parallel, laterally track with a projectile going that fast?

How did they get those pictures?!?!

The Phantom V1610 can capture 1 million FPS. Would that work? Maybe a series of cameras along a course of a mile.

psshst, maybe... I don't know. 1 million FPS is crazy, and could catch it firing out of the barrel , but going any distance laterally would have to be a series of cameras or something like it i guess.
