Except now instead of a pompous megalomaniac in charge, Iran has a bunch of Islamic jackasses attempting to manipulate nuclear power to destroy other nations.

hmm, interesting reaction to that WW2 facts.

Gottago, I don't think it wasn't meant to disparage or diminish the American actions or sacrifices. Just pointing out the extreme loss of life the Russians military suffered ... which gets little mention in U.S. history.

Salt, I don't think it was meant to speak to whether or not Russia or it's leadership over history was "good" or not.

It's interesting that you both seemed to want to defend the U.S. and/or diminish Russian's fight, losses and overall leadership.
What's up with that?

I cannot speak for others here, but the image that you posted conveys a sense that Americans should not be so proud of the accomplishments and the losses of American lives if they compare those sacrifices to those of Russia during this period. The image itself appears to attempt to disparage the sacrifices of Americans during this period as compared to Russia's losses.

You have to go by population, and I'm about 95% sure the population of this area (at the time) is greater than the 18 geographically larger "empires"...

I thought you may be right, but wasn't sure so i looked it up.
Guinnes book says:
https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com...ld-population/
"
Largest empire by percentage of world population
Who:
Achaemenid Empire/Persian Empire
When:
480 BC
By share of population, the largest empire was the Achaemenid Empire, better known as the Persian Empire, which accounted for approximately 49.4 million of the world’s 112.4 million people in around 480 BC – an astonishing 44%. Originating in modern-day Iran, the empire was first established by Cyrus the Great and included parts of Central Asia, the Mediterranean, North Africa, and even European territories such as ancient Thrace and Macedonia."
