Default What Are the Odds of a U.S.-China War?

I have brought this up several times myself, so when this writer presented it once again I jumped on the chance to post a new thread on this topic. As I would like a realistic answer in all replies.

Not the usual America has the Greatest Military of all.. Because I won't buy into that Patriotic B.S.

Not that our Military isn't powerful.. But facts are real. And in about every passed war situation we were attacked first. I mean combat situation which lasted more than a few days or weeks.

With several Powers of today's Military's that alone could end any war as we try to recover. Now think before posting people.

I am referring to CYBER ATTACKS which dis-able all of our communications and every one of our Military Satellites. Throwing America into a 3rd world Country as every modern utility we have is totaled. Lights stop working for traffic and any buildings, water stops poring from our faucets, water ports & locks don't work and airports don't function. Every thing is damaged by either a cyber attack and or Lord, forbid and nuclear explosion several thousand feet above certain areas.

Okay let's go another route and say some how both Countries face off at the same time.. Well we have less than a million person total Military force. While China has 2 million in it's Army alone. Do a few searches to have the facts people. As this is an interesting topic.

SHANGHAI—Two fiery nationalists— Xi Jinping and Donald Trump—now occupy the seats of power in Beijing and Washington.

In their mission to make their countries great again, one pursues the “China Dream”, one “America First.” Both see the other as the chief obstacle to their ambition; they’re locked into a zero-sum competition.

Halting efforts to cooperate on North Korea have papered over deep tensions on a range of issues including the South China Sea.

Are the U.S. and China headed for war? That has been the recent hot question in China circles, spurred by a deluge of books that handicap the chances.
Do understand that this is about a book written and now two professors debate over this issue.

So I stop here but do suggest each reader finish reading at this site which isn't much more to read. Then apply what we really know about both countries, their leadership and Military might.
To keep this debate alive.. Do consider all things as I am ready for your opinions, expressed thoughts about both Countries Military powers & might...

I think the odds are close to zero. Both sides have too much to lose.

A possible catalyst of course, is NK. Who knows what that idiot will do. Hopefully nothing since if he did anything hell might rain down from 3 different directions. The bulls eye would be him personally.

First for starting it off jimbo...

Well you think it will be zero chance of any war with China. Not much to dabate there...

Yet you have an opinion that N. Korea could get whacked.. I do hope it is taken out well before they get a nuke and a missile to launch at our allies or America..

And this is the most possible reason a war between America and China could begin..
As trump is dead set on stopping N. Korea's ambitions of attaining both.

And why with several issues between China and America and it's Asian allies China has not inter-injected for America to stop the North from going all the way with it's desire of nuclear power projection status.

Have you not considered this as a possible source of tension leading to a war with America, the west and China. And of course other Communists country's siding with China.

Aww I gave up a detail I was holding back as an Ace in the hole.....

Wars from now on, just as our healthcare system are profit based. So don't expect a blow out, except for the fat boy with the goofy haircut in north Korea. Who knows what the hell he might do.

Hey Surly very good point and one that is the main reason besides terrorism we are still fighting in the middle east, Who profits? Why of course the suppliers of all types of equipment and services to the military industrial complex..

So this covers your reply.. As again or top leadership and the big Generals get together and guess what some big corporate big wigs are in the wings with all of the answers needed once it is decided we have no choice but to fight back..

See again Surly my main point of a War starting is we have been attacked, so war is all but declared by us.

Now why would China or any other Nation spring an attack on America. Really there are scores of answers to that question if these countries be red in leadership and socialist in nature.

As right now about the only country not wanting more war. With the exception of N. Korea, but they need more time to get it started. And which America plans a swift damaging strike with out any long drawn out warfare involve is what Trump would plan in my opinion.

So again go with the flow and what you know are facts. Hey a simple reason is "saving face" as most Asian countries with any power get very upset over.. Heck that applies in the middle east too.

Which also has enough problems and many treaties which would cause a war involving American with her host country like Saudi Arabia or the few others we deal with.
As Iran and Syria have their backers in the same area. And far to many of these troublesome countries are well armed and been involved in wars for ever.
See we and our western allies are about the only countries that speak for peace.
So many other countries seek to end the peace. And why is it I have to remind both of you of this simple fact?

Replies are welcome......
