Default The Benghazi Scandal Grows

Quote:
CIA director David Petraeus was surprised when he read the freshly rewritten talking points an aide had emailed him in the early afternoon of Saturday, September 15. One day earlier, analysts with the CIA’s Office of Terrorism Analysis had drafted a set of unclassified talking points policymakers could use to discuss the attacks in Benghazi, Libya. But this new version—produced with input from senior Obama administration policymakers—was a shadow of the original.

The original CIA talking points had been blunt: The assault on U.S. facilities in Benghazi was a terrorist attack conducted by a large group of Islamic extremists, including some with ties to al Qaeda.

These were strong claims. The CIA usually qualifies its assessments, providing policymakers a sense of whether the conclusions of its analysis are offered with “high confidence,” “moderate confidence,” or “low confidence.” That first draft signaled confidence, even certainty: “We do know that Islamic extremists with ties to al Qaeda participated in the attack.”

There was good reason for this conviction. Within 24 hours of the attack, the U.S. government had intercepted communications between two al Qaeda-linked terrorists discussing the attacks in Benghazi. One of the jihadists, a member of Ansar al Sharia, reported to the other that he had participated in the assault on the U.S. diplomatic post. Solid evidence. And there was more. Later that same day, the CIA station chief in Libya had sent a memo back to Washington, reporting that eyewitnesses to the attack said the participants were known jihadists, with ties to al Qaeda

Weekly Standard is just about at the level of Drudge Report and facts shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence, conjecture is closer to what they report.

Do you know whats funny to me when I read this? The left like the people on this forum never ever praise Obama. Never have. Yet the right finds fault in every single thing the guy has done since he was sworn in. It's exactly the opposite of what you wrote.

What I find interesting is the same press did the same with Bush, Clinton, Bush, Reagan etc. The press seems to like those in power for the most part regardless. As for liking or disliking Obama in my case. Fact is I didn't vote for him either time, however he also isn't always right but then again he isn't always wrong. I also don't think he is a bad as many claim he is nor as perfect as you seem to think we think he is.

Oh, you mean like CBS "News" using amateurish forged documents purporting to show the President Bush hadn't done his military duty?

And this becomes the quadrillonth political scandal in history and it has happened in all political parties and all countries where telling the truth from day 1 that they messed up and were wrong would have been better.

Yes but then they sure jumped on his bandwagon once he was elected. Think Hillary and Obama running how they jumped ugly with Hillary when it looked like Obama just might stand a chance to beat her. They stuck pretty good to with McCain until he picked a running mate that wasn't ready to be a governor much less a heart beat from the presidency. They also protected Bill Clinton when the scandal broke about him then turned on him somewhat but not a great deal. Oh and they sure covered for Reagan when Iran-Contra broke especially when they realized he could actually be impeached over it.
