I recall that mess of a mission. About every chopper used had plenty of holes in them as well as crews wounded.
These Marines were placed on a small island and in the 24+ hour battles the ship and it's crew were turned over to the Navy, yet communications were so bad the Marines never got the message. From the time they first hit the ground it became apparent it was more than they could handle for their size and weapons. So I will add RIP, Pfc. James Jacques and now your family has more closure.
