Not even the parents. Why should they?
The army pays for the funeral expenses. When my son was in the army, he had several hundred thousand dollars worth of automatic life insurance... I believe it was four hundred thousand, but I can't remember for sure (When he tried to tell me about it, I screamed, "I don't want to hear that!!").

What amount of money would make you feel better if your kid was dead?
For me, there is no amount, so I'd rather have nothing. Nothing I could buy with it would make it okay, or even remotely better.

And their relationship to the deseased or wounded, did they just see each other at every other Christmas?

Did they come out of the woods? Which any decent defense lawyer knows his case grows weaker if people lie to him and he doesn't do a bit of research on each family member.

Does any of this make any sense to the other members?
