Because they don't know a certain word doesn't mean they don't have an understanding of what that word describes.
By the way, I note your concern for the working conditions of long dead men, but you haven't told us what you're doing to help living ones.
What kind of **** is that supposed to be? What kind of question is that supposed to be? It's BS.
(Agitating for silly and corrupt unions doesn't count, that mostly helps workers in third world countries where union thuggery sends formerly American jobs.)
Your question is a bunch of crap. It's like saying you can't be for women's rights unless you've personally done something to help women.

I still remember being thought soft for wanting to wear safety glasses and hearing protection at work.

I also remember a lot of contempt being expressed for things like safety guards on moving parts.
People may have had a contempt for it, but it saved lives and kept people from getting injured.... but that sort of thing doesn't matter in your world.
