It may seem benign to you.
Where the danger lies is in not allowing for a broader scope in learning. What are other people's views/religion/course of action?
I would never limit a child in their choices for their own philosophy but do as Ak said, just give them the tools to find their own answers.

If you're teaching them "values" then you're teaching them what to think.

But aside from that. WHAT business is it of yours what other people decide to teach their children. They're teaching them the 10 commandments. Do you have a problem with those?

I'm not saying that. I'm just saying that it's silly to make the statement "I don't teach kids what to think" and then immediately say something that proves that you're teaching them WHAT to think. It was stupid.

I'm surprised these kids' parents didn't teach them the ten commandments.
