NATO chopper shot down over 20 soldiers killed

WASHINGTON DC - The Associated Press has learned that more than 20 Navy SEALs from the unit that killed Osama bin Laden were among those lost in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan.
The operators from SEAL Team Six were flown by a crew of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment. That's according to one current and one former U.S. official. Both spoke on condition of anonymity because families are still being notified of the loss of their loved ones.
One source says the team was thought to include 22 SEALs, three Air Force air controllers, seven Afghan Army troops, a dog and his handler, and a civilian interpreter, plus the helicopter crew.
The sources thought this was the largest single loss of life ever for SEAL Team Six, known as the Naval Special Warfare Development Group.

As sad as this is I think it happened because we do the same things over and over even with these night raids which this time the enemy was ready for.

With a weapon that dates back nearly 60 years ago and about anyone can use with ease.

Ijust heard on Fox news none of those lost in this sad situation were from those that got OBL...

Not that this changes anything in the end.
I will ask why is our POTUS still listening to the Military & other war hawks?

After this much time, lose of good troops and the overwelming costs some which will come out as more and more have P.T.S.D. or other problems from these wars.

The time has come to just pack it up and leave, the sooner the better.

As we can't keep up this, "we are the only super power" mentality. And truth be told we aren't.

And America better understand this fact. Otherwise our leaders will have to cut/raise taxes so much it will harm us as a nation and a population.

This is very sad news my heart goes out to their families.

It is especially bad because they were from SEAL team 6 some of the highest trained operators we have.

To make matters worse I bet they are celebrating in (south) Paterson NJ and other Muslim enclaves in the US

I'm wonder if those in the media who spent some time after the OBL incident trying to expose the identities of the Seal team and its members are patting themselves on the back tonite.

Interesting set of circumstances. Seal team six, training afghan forces...random shoot down. sure.

It wasn't random. Like we have done before we allow them like in the Nam to learn our ways and with Iran giving them night vision we aren't the only ones on the battle field that owns the night..

We didn't learn much from the Nam and after 10 years in Afghan we have done these night missions so often the enemy learns and is alert.

Many might not be able to read or write but a shoulder fired rocket any child can use it so why can't they?

As usual we fight by standards and use the same tactics over and over. How can't they learn our ways.

And with equipment as good as ours we are in for a bigger lost as more time goes on.

Have any of you read any of the things I have posted in the Afghanistan thread? Not my opinions but the reports.

Do you know how many total members are in Seal Team 6?

Who knows if anyone on the OBL mission........ was even on this helicopter?





Trying to get away from the toxicity and back on topic, this is a sad day for a lot of families.
