Default Libyan rebel commander admits his fighters have al-Qaeda links

This is what we're defending in Libya?!?!?!?...

The leader of the Libya rebel forces Obama's protecting is a guy who fought against us in Afghanistan, recruits rebels who fought against us in Iraq, AND believes in Al Qaeda...

Libyan rebel commander admits his fighters have al-Qaeda links

Quote:
Abdel-Hakim al-Hasidi, the Libyan rebel leader, has said jihadists who fought against allied troops in Iraq are on the front lines of the battle against Muammar Gaddafi's regime.

In an interview with the Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, Mr al-Hasidi admitted that he had recruited "around 25" men from the Derna area in eastern Libya to fight against coalition troops in Iraq. Some of them, he said, are "today are on the front lines in Adjabiya".

Mr al-Hasidi insisted his fighters "are patriots and good Muslims, not terrorists," but added that the "members of al-Qaeda are also good Muslims and are fighting against the invader".

His revelations came even as Idriss Deby Itno, Chad's president, said al-Qaeda had managed to pillage military arsenals in the Libyan rebel zone and acquired arms, "including surface-to-air missiles, which were then smuggled into their sanctuaries".

Mr al-Hasidi admitted he had earlier fought against "the foreign invasion" in Afghanistan, before being "captured in 2002 in Peshwar, in Pakistan". He was later handed over to the US, and then held in Libya before being released in 2008.
Just wonderful...

I never in all my life thought I'd see an American Administration so completely staffed by utter, confused incompetents.

It's hard to even accuse them of holding to a bad philosophy, they just don't rise to that level of sapience.

They remind me most of very young children discovering that oddly, wishing very hard for something still doesn't make it so.

This little bit doesn't get enough attention.

It makes you think twice about the calls to arm the rebels with western weapons. American soldiers could find themselves being shot by them in the future.

Also, did you notice the Muslim Brotherhood is now taking over the Egyptian revolution.

That headline makes me want to scream. It was a surprise to the New York Times, but oddly, not to Rush, Hannity, Beck or a host of other Right Wing Pundits who paused to give the matter a few minutes of informed thought.

I posted this link in another thread before I noticed you had it here. As I stated there, its starting to look like our best plan would be to let the loyalists and the rebels fight it out, then bomb the winner.

It's complicated.
Number one a person with some military background is what was needed to get this show on the road against Godaweful and his absolutist power and oppression. In this region where were citizens going to find that? Only among people who had already fought successfully.
A bright side in this is how Al Qaeda members are seeing us now.

Another one is starting to pop up concerning the US backing the enemy. It's just the World Net Daily making the allegation, still...

Remember that Israeli family that was slaughtered a couple of weeks ago? World Net Daily is alleging the 2 Palestinian officers who allegedly have been charged with planning the attack, were armed, trained, and funded by the US.

No bias here...........
Seriously, do you think that by using an alteration of his name it somehow lends credibility to your statement?
We both dislike that action when somebody does it to Mr Obama, why do you do it now?

I'm thinking the Patriot Missiles are an attack, not a defense.
