U.S. Soldiers Accused of Killing Afghan Civilians

The documents with the charges against soldiers accused of randomly killing Afghan civilians for fun contain "some of the grisliest allegations against American soldiers since the U.S. invasion in 2001," writes the Washington Post's Craig Whitlock. Besides killing three civilians for no apparent reason, members of a platoon from the Fifth Stryker Combat Brigade, Second infantry Division have also "been charged with dismembering and photographing corpses, as well as hoarding a skull and other human bones." Five sodiers are accused of planning and executing three murders in Kandahar province while seven others have been charged with related crimes, including trying to block the investigation and assaulting a whistleblower. Now questions are being raised about whether the military willfully turned a blind eye toward suspicious behavior. The father of one of the soldiers tried to warn officials after his son told him what was going on, but no one took him seriously.

Where the hell do these people come from?
It couldn't possibly be any worse if we re-instituted the draft. I don't think "dum bass" farm boys are this f_lucked up.

Oh yes and sometimes worst. Think about it, many sign up just to experience war and a desire to kill.

Like Nam the enemy doesn't show themselves all that much and still men die.

So some have gone from names to everyone is my enemy. As happened in the Nam.
If a war drags out for long enough this is one of the results. It happened in Iraq to.

Great Post salty...

But the U.S. military imposes such horrendous bureaucracy on its warriors, few can satisfy their lust for killing. In the end, the military works against itself, through crippling micro-management, command politics and gross personnel misutilization. No thanks. I had enough, and lost faith in The Green Machine to do anything with clarity.

That Green machine is just following orders which in the end comes from the POTUS...
So who is imposing such horrendous bureaucracy on its warriors?

I posted some of what Bob Woodward has in his new book and several Generals have kind of said what retired General MyCrysle has said or hinted at some of it.

I'm not for this war but still back our troops... And can relate to their situation
as the same BS happened in the Nam.

And as long as these civilians keep quite about the killing of other civilians by the Muslim enemy, yet scream when we happen to kill one there will be no progress.

Obama just announced today we aren't leaving till the job is done.. See the "War in Afghan" thread.
