Default Jlarsen's Knowledge of American History Poll Series: Washington's Teeth

Legend has it that the First President of the United States, George Washington, wore a set of false teeth made of wood. Is this true or just another myth?

Answer the poll regarding what you believe his dentures were really constructed from - try to do it without using wiki or google or other source.

I think I remember hearing they were ivory...

...which explains why he was scared of mice and addicted to peanuts...

They told us in school they were wood and he probably wasn't wearing them in at least one picture and in another they fit poorly.

Cameras were't around then...They were paintings, so we can only go by the painter's rendition, which may or may not be accurate...

The correct answer is: Ivory, gold, lead, and human and animal teeth. Weird!
