..Iraqi suicide bombing kills 15 at Shiite funeral

By MAZIN YAHYA and QASSIM ABDUL-ZAHRA | Associated Press – 49 mins ago.

........................................... 18 June 2012 ................................................

BAGHDAD (AP) — A suicide bomber detonated his explosive belt in a tent packed with mourners for the funeral for a Shiite tribal leader in the Iraqi city of Baqouba Monday, killing at least 15 people and wounding 40, officials said.

The blast came after a particularly bloody week in which more than 100 people died in bombings across the country targeting a major Shiite pilgrimage.

A local politician said it appeared to be an attempt to reignite sectarian violence between Sunni and Shiite Muslims that killed thousands and pushed Iraq to the brink of civil war in 2006 and 2007. Baqouba is a former Sunni insurgent stronghold 60 kilometers (35 miles) northeast of the capital Baghdad in Diyala province. But the attack was in a Shiite area.

Provincial police spokesman Ghalib al-Karkhi said the bomber set off his explosives in the tent filled with mourners on the third and last day of the funeral for a leader of the Zubaidi Shiite tribe.

Faris al-Azzawi, a provincial health official, said the toll was at least 15 dead and 40 wounded.

An official blamed al-Qaida-allied Sunni militants.

"Absolutely this is the way of al-Qaida — targeting innocent people to ignite the sectarian unrest," said Sadiq al-Husseini, head of the Diyala provincial council.

Diyala is one of the last provinces in Iraq where al-Qaida and its allies remain a strong threat. The province, which is sandwiched between Baghdad and Iran, is divided among Sunnis, Shiites and Kurds and has been a sectarian flashpoint for years.

So one would thhink the govt., would place a large amount of Police & Army Troops in the area, working security.

This is to let my readers know I have had enough of the posting in this thread, yet till I can convince cnredd to place it as a sticky I will about each week it forward so it is re-starting on the top 3.

See I just don't post and go on to somethng else. I go back and read the news in that region and some of it is ugly to say the least.

After doing this for so long I started to lose my feeling of mankind. Plus starting to hate another group of people.

And as a believer that is just a ....

The links are just above this so use them.............................

..Suicide bomber kills 7 of his own family in Iraq

By SAMEER N. YACOUB | Associated Press – 8 hrs ago... 7 July 2012 .....

BAGHDAD (AP) — A suicide bomber detonated an explosives-rigged belt at a gathering of his own family in western Iraq, killing his pro-government cousin and six other relatives, officials said Saturday.

The blast targeting a leader in the Sahwa militias in the city of Ramadi is a reminder of how extremism still divides Iraq's Sunni Muslim minority, with some working with al-Qaida-linked insurgents against others who support the Shiite-led government.

The killing is part of a surge in violence six months after the last American troops withdrew.

The bomber entered the home of his cousin, the local Sahwa leader, on Friday night as the extended family was gathered for a meal, said a police official in Ramadi, the capital of Anbar province, 115 kilometers (70 miles) west of Baghdad.

He approached the militiaman and detonated his explosives, killing his target as well as his wife, three of their teenage children, his brother and another relative, said the official. He could provide no other details including the number of wounded.

Nothing to post as the news hasn't had much except for the other countries in the region.

If you noticed some of my remarks we are in agreement.

Here is a thought BigDave why don't you take over these 3 threads, this one which doesn't have much news everyday, and the Pakistan & Afghanistan one which do have some news about every other day now.

The links are there in each thread, and you just use them. Our like me start with one and from there in the world tab above the stories, click it and a drop down comes out with choices of regions relating to these 3 and others.

I had a few in that were posted in the International Topic Area for Iran, N.Korea, China, Russia and Syria... And they are each pages back and will be lost totime & the number of posts made each day. And each has every post I placed in each of them. Which is how you will find them as each is over a page or more.

But over the time I got to the point I was starting to HATE which is not normal for me, and it was a population of people which made it worst as each human should have values.

Being a blind faith believer I could not continue with any of them as even with China, Russia and N. Korea I had to wade through the others. And it would cause me more pain & weaken my faith.

Knowing this could you do it?

If not then problem as each has continued to gather readers from the Guests we have coming every day, some just to use the links others to use any of the 3 as research.
As every post made in any of these threads I started are still in each thread and not 20 pages back, or after the pages run out then dropped like every other thread made on this forum unless it is a sticky.

This is one thing going for each thread the reader will continue to come. As after I stopped the posting I wrote down the numbers of hits in each thread.

This one was at: 8,249...

Pakistan was at 14,873...

Afghanistan was at 23,454...

.Iraq says unable to support Syrian refugees

AFP – 4 hrs ago. 20 July 2012 ...................................

Iraq's government said on Friday it was unable to provide help for Syrian refugees looking to escape their country's ongoing strife because of the poor security situation within Iraq.

"Our borders are desert areas, and we can not provide aid for refugees and because of the security situation," government spokesman Ali Dabbagh said in an interview on Iraqiya state TV, to explain why Iraq would not be able to support Syrian refugees.

"We are sorry for not receiving Syrian refugees. We are not like Jordan and Turkey -- their borders are regions that can provide services. We had hoped to help our Syrian refugee brothers."

Tens of thousands of Syrians have fled their country in recent days after violence mounted, in particular in the capital Damascus.

Up to 30,000 Syrians have fled into Lebanon over the past two days, according to the UN refugee agency, and more than 43,000 Syrians have sought refuge in Turkey or camps set up near the frontier since March 2011.

And authorities say nearly 140,000 Syrians have taken refuge in Jordan.

Dabbagh said some 1,000 Iraqis had returned to the country by plane from Syria, and a further 1,500 were waiting at Damascus airport, adding that moving Iraqis by land in Syria was "not safe."

Dabbagh estimated on Thursday that some 100,000 to 200,000 Iraqis still remained inside Syria.

18 killed in sundown bombings in 2 Iraqi towns
By LARA JAKES and MAZIN YAHYA | Associated Press – 3 hrs ago.. .

BAGHDAD (AP) — Bombs struck two Sunni towns at sundown Sunday just as Iraqis were preparing to break their holy day's fast, killing 18 and wounding more than 50, officials said. Two earlier bomb blasts killed a policeman and wounded dozens of people.

The multiple bomb attacks showed that deadly violence is still common and in some places even worsening in Iraq, seven months after the U.S. pulled its last troops out of the country. Most of the attacks bear the hallmarks of Sunni Muslim insurgents linked to al-Qaida, targeting Shiites and their holy sites as well as security forces working for the Shiite-led government.

And what I said about this and if you check below this news story you can see that Al-Qaedia is coming back to their old strong holds in Iraq.

The two latest bombings, however, struck predominantly Sunni towns. So far, Shiite militants have resisted striking back at Sunnis. It was not immediately clear if the Sunday bombings were retaliation for earlier attacks, but residents in the stricken areas raised fears of renewed sectarian conflict.

So how can this even be said?

The first sundown attack, in the town of Mahmoudiya, was the deadliest — a double bombing in which the second seemed aimed at hitting people who came to help victims of the first blast.

A car exploded around 7 p.m. in a parking lot for minibuses in the town, about 20 miles (30 kilometers) south of Baghdad. As emergency responders sprang into action, a second car blew up, according to police at the scene.

And futher proof they have learned nothing about their enemies. No wonder Al-Qaeda wants to return. After all they love killings. And Iraq is still ripe cause the govt. has been bickering and doing little to even address this.

Twelve people were killed in the double blast, including two policemen, officials said. Another 36 were wounded. A medic at Mahmoudiya public hospital confirmed the casualty toll.

"People are worried that these attacks might ignite sectarian violence again," said Ali Kamal, a 41, who owns a small warehouse for electric equipment close to the parking lot. "Especially when it coincides with the Syrian events."

Syria's bloody 17-month civil war between Sunni rebels and the regime of President Bashar Assad, a member of a Shiite offshoot sect, has reached the Syrian-Iraq border over the last few days.

.9 killed in attacks after deadly Iraq day

By SINAN SALAHEDDIN | Associated Press – 6 hrs ago. 24 July 2012 .......

BAGHDAD (AP) — Bomb attacks in Iraq killed nine people Tuesday, officials said, a bloody aftershock to the country's deadliest day in two years that followed the declaration of a new al-Qaida offensive.

Police said an explosives-rigged motorcycle killed six Kurdish intelligence officials on a late afternoon security patrol in the northeast town of Tuz Khormato, located 210 kilometers (130 miles) north of Baghdad.

A local medic confirmed the deaths. Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to release the information.

Less than an hour earlier and a little farther south, a parked minibus blew up near a police checkpoint in the city of Baquoba. The blast killed three passers-by and wounded 29 others, said local council spokeswoman Samira al-Shibli.

The blasts followed a wave of violence across Iraq on Monday during which 115 people were killed. Many of those attacks also targeted security forces.

Al-Qaida's new leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi announced days before that the network would stage attacks and try to rebuild tribal alliances to make a comeback in Sunni areas from which it had retreated in 2007-2008.
