IMO what will bring down the country is not a few cases of the flu, but the 20% or more drop in our markets caused by the panic that has ensued over a common happening.
Thank youuuuuuu, jimbo!

I heard that people were panic buying at Costco this weekend.

I believe that is why the media is going all out to make this as bad as possible, they know that if the stock market takes a big enough hit, it will make Trump look bad come November.

What we know: Umatilla County COVID-19 case

What we know: Umatilla County COVID-19 case | My Columbia Basin

UMATILLA COUNTY – The third person in Oregon to have a presumptive positive novel coronavirus test is an employee of Wildhorse Casino and Resort. The adult male is being treated at St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla.

All three Oregon cases are considered to be community transmissions, not related to travel to countries where COVID-19 is considered an epidemic. Dr. Dean Sidelinger, Oregon’s state health officer, says that means the virus is spreading.

“That is why we anticipate that these cases will increase, and we may see even more illnesses and possibly even deaths in Oregon,” he said.

The Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation Board of Trustees closed the resort. They also closed Nixyaawii Community School, tribal daycare, head start, and the senior center for deep cleaning. Director of Communications Chuck Sams said that the education facilities will remain closed at least through Tuesday. The resort is expected to reopen in 24 to 48 hours after closing at noon.

Customers of Wildhorse expressed fears of their possible exposure. CEO Gary George emailed KUMA News to put those fears at rest.

“I can confirm the employee was not a front line staffer, did not have contact with the public and had no reason to interact with the public,” George wrote. “The employee worked in a restricted area of the casino.”

The man who is hospitalized attended a youth basketball game in Weston Saturday. Intermountain Education Service District Superintendent Mark Mulvihill told KUMA News that the Oregon Health Authority suggested closing the gym, but allowing the middle school to remain open, since the gym is a separate building. The gym is undergoing a professional cleaning.
Now there is no reason to panic, but a little fear is in order. This isn't some major metro area, and it our dead season for tourism. Hell your more likely to step on deer crap than catch some bug from china here. But there it is.

To put it into perspective for me.
19 people died this morning in the tornado in Nashville.
This is a damn virus.
It's going to do what viruses do until it's contained.

I do agree, less than just a month ago we had a 100 year flood here fortunately only killing one, but it displaced nearly 1000 people. This virus hitting now is not something my tribe or my county needs or is truly ready for. We are in recovery mode from that and now the largest employer in the area has to close for a deep cleaning to maintain public confidence. It feels like a low blow after a series of devastating gut punches.

I just came across this article:

Quote:
Feds classifying all coronavirus patient deaths as ‘COVID-19’ deaths, regardless of cause

The federal government is classifying the deaths of patients infected with the coronavirus as COVID-19 deaths, regardless of any underlying health issues that could have contributed to the loss of someone’s life.

Dr. Deborah Birx, the response coordinator for the White House coronavirus task force, said the federal government is continuing to count the suspected COVID-19 deaths, despite other nations doing the opposite.

“There are other countries that if you had a pre-existing condition, and let’s say the virus caused you to go to the ICU [intensive care unit] and then have a heart or kidney problem,” she said during a Tuesday news briefing at the White House. “Some countries are recording that as a heart issue or a kidney issue and not a COVID-19 death.

“The intent is … if someone dies with COVID-19, we are counting that,” she added.

Asked whether the numbers could skew data the government is trying to collect, Birx said that would mostly apply more to rural areas where testing isn’t being implemented on a wide scale.

“I’m pretty confident that in New York City and New Jersey and places that have these large outbreaks and COVID-only hospitals. … I can tell you they are testing,” she said.

Dr. Michael Baden, a Fox News contributor, said it’s reasonable to include the death of someone infected with the virus, who also had other health issues, in the COVID-19 body count.

“In the normal course, autopsies would then determine whether the person died of the effects of the COVID virus, whether the person had a brain tumor or brain hemorrhage, for example, that might be unrelated to it and what the relative significance of both the infection and the pre-existing disease is,” Baden told Fox News.

However, the number of autopsies being performed could be low due to the danger of infection, he said.

“Then you will include in those numbers some people who did have a pre-existing condition that would have caused death anyway, but that’s probably a small number,” Baden said.

The United States had 398,185 confirmed COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday night, including more than 12,000 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University.

President Trump spent Monday trying to assure Americans that the US and health facilities are prepared for a possible surge in cases in the coming weeks.

“Progress has been made before the surge,” Trump said during the White House coronavirus briefing, where he said hospitals will be stockpiled with much-needed equipment. “The next week, week and a half is when the big surge is going to come.”
https://nypost.com/2020/04/07/feds-c...vid-19-deaths/

So we are now seeing that the death toll in the US is over 12,000. How many of them actually died FROM COVIDvs died WITH COVID? If someone has heart problems but dies of a stroke, do they classify the death as heart related? Well that is what they are doing here. And it is being done to skew the numbers and frighten people.

It will help scare more people into giving up more constitutional rights.
