I hate going to the doctor because it's always a train wreck. They want to focus on the things they ASSUME to be wrong (blood pressure, blood sugar, and so on)... I have to explain to them each time that I may indeed be overweight, but good Lord get a clue. The last tests didn't have abnormalities and these aren't likely to either.

I used to have to go to the doctor every three months to get my skin checked for more cancer growth, but now I'm dating a guy that works in a cancer research lab and he's pretty good about checking my spots...

So until I feel like crap, or until this relationship ends... lol I don't see myself going back to the doctor.

That is far from consistent across the U.S.

I hope you will not need to do this the rest of your life.
My pancreas went AWOL, most likely autoimmune induced. I was at the time of correct diagnosis, producing almost no insulin, which means I had already gone through my 'honeymoon' period, where insulin production is winding down.

It doesn't matter what I eat, though certain sweets carry a longer penalty (having to take more insulin until sugars burnt through the system) I need insulin for anything other than straight proteins, and a few vegetables.

Though I appreciate the thought, yes, unfortunately, this will be with me for the rest of my life.

I became diabetic in the last month of my last pregnancy 21 years ago almost to the day. We get tested here twice a year from our family doctors with an annual full check-up for retinal photography, checking feet pulses, chat with a dietician, etc. I just wish I could come off the statin. My cholesterol is good on it but all diabetics are put on statins at least in my doctor's offices. I am sure it is giving me side-effects. I will have a chat this coming week when it is my check-up date.
My Endo had wanted to put me on statins, but if I wasn't diabetic, my cholesteral would be considered excellent. I declined, and a couple of years ago, my Endo told me I made agood choice, that now they aren't so keen on immediately putting all diabetics on statins.

I only go to a doctor when I absolutely need to or when I need to get my one prescription refilled which amounts to maybe once a year. I'm very lucky that I'm extremely healthy and, try hard to keep my weight and excercise at good levels. Most of the time, if I get sick - I can take care of it myself

An acquaintance of mine was too scared to have a mammogram because she was "frightened that they might find something." I told her you would be in a worse position if God-forbid there is some issue and it is too late to help you.

Please people, for any health issue. Go and see your doctor. He or she will not mind you, as you may believe, wasting their time and it could save your life.

I was uninsured for about fifteen years, and could not afford to go to a doctor.
I became really reluctant to ever go to a doctor for any reason, because if something was really wrong I couldn't have afforded to have it treated, so why even bother having it diagnosed, was my thinking.
It would be different of course in a country with a national health care system.
