Either he can get motivated or not. You can't do that for him. He needs to find something that he enjoys and make that his hobbie. I love to run. The endorphins are irreplaceable. That's my thing. I run three days a week for three miles. But if I hated to run, I doubt I would manage to run a single mile. People usually can't force themselves into doing something they hate for very long. He needs to come up with his own routine.
Suggestions? What does he enjoy doing? Does he like hiking? Biking? There are all kinds of sports to choose from. Soccor is a good one because you use every single muscle group, plus lots of cardio. It's a great sport. Your idea of different activities for each day is very helpful. Some people need more variety than others. ![]()

He's just going to have to find something he enjoys, period. That's always been my issue working out. I ****ing hate working out. HATE IT. I don't get this "endorphin rush" people talk about.
But, I just try to find things that interest me. For me, I enjoy boxing. Maybe suggest something like that. It's a full body workout, strength, cardio, balance, everything.

A varied workout routine for me is whether I reach for the coffee or bottled water.....
![]() But seriously, I need routine, and my 'workout' is about as minimal as it will get - stretches, ab wheel, situps. 20 Minutes, every morning but weekends.

I wish mine was that simple. Every weekday morning, I get up and run 5 miles at 6:30AM. Then on Mondays I do chest, triceps and back. Wednesdays I do shoulders, biceps and forearms. Fridays I do legs, glutes and light chest again. Abs are done every day I lift. Tuesdays I do yoga, Thursdays I do spin class. Saturday I either bike or hike with my other half and Sunday I do nothing unless soccer league is in. Then I normally have a game and Tuesday and Thursday evenings are practices.

I'm typically in bed at 10PM every night except on weekends...then it's usually around midnight. I can cover that 5 miles in the morning in roughtly 35-40 minutes which leaves me plenty of time to eat and get ready for work. Then I just go straight to the gym after work or sometimes, when it's a quicker work out day like Friday's leg day, I will go during lunch.
It looks like a lot but it's really not that bad. I never spend more than 2 hours at the gym on any given night.
